Reimagining hymns
Amazing how @thespirituals_ breathe new life in a well-established hymn 🎵There's a generation of Christians and non-Christians alike who would never listen to hymns as traditionally arranged (even though they are so beautiful) but who will play new arrangements like this repeatedly. It's a wonderful and exciting development because it brings the best of the both worlds together - excellent, important lyrics and melodic arrangements that appeal to the different tastes of different listeners.#SongsOfPraise / Celebrating Gospel Music / Sunday 1:15pm / @BBCOne & @BBCiPlayerhttp://bbc.in/3KACBA2

What a night! The inaugural Gospel Excellence Honours Night, hosted by RSL Awards and GMIA, was simply brilliant!
With sensational live music, celebrated gospel legends, and several fervent calls to push gospel qualifications forward, the Gospel Excellence Honours Night, which took place on Tuesday 16th April 16, 2024, was the first instalment of the ground-breaking new initiative to empower aspiring performers in gospel music.
Gospel Music Industry Alliance (GMIA) have worked extensively with RSL Awards to create a Rockschool Graded Exam for singers who perform in the Gospel tradition. Starting with Grade 6, candidates can choose from a range of benchmarked pieces that have been chosen by leading Gospel partitioners such as RSL Fellows Karen Gibson, Audrey Lawrence-Mattis and Anu Omideyi.
