Would you like to help frogs, toads, newts and other watery wildlife here in Perthshire? Join us in this Saturday and next Friday (2nd & 8th of November) at two wonderful ponds to help improve the habitat by removing excess vegetation from the ponds, creating hibernacula and planting native wildflowers.

Contact us on [email protected] if you fancy a fun (but probably muddy) day of volunteering so we know how many biscuits & tools to bring on the day. You can come for the whole day (10am-3pm) or just a few hours if you prefer. Thanks! Daniele

We saw only two on the coast this week - they were heading purposefully towards and will hopefully safely arrive in Africa in around six weeks.

They will follow a route down west France, east Spain and over to Morocco before crossing the Sahara Desert and Congo rainforest. Once they reach their over-wintering destination of Namibia or South Africa, they should be able to feed on lots of insects and build up their weight again. They only weigh about 20g!

Good luck Swallows! Happy and safe travels.

We saw 5 heading down the coast this morning which was a nice surprise.

Hopefully it was a recently fledged family and they will be as safe as possible together.

Good luck wee birdies and safe travels. We look forward to seeing you again in the spring 💚

I do love Harebells - they are so delicate and are associated with many folklore stories to do with witches. An interesting plant on many levels! 💚
