Dunster Beach 🏖
Dunster Beach is situated a stone’s throw from historic Dunster and the seaside town of Minehead on the edge of beautiful Exmoor.
Great place to go for a walk there is the
The Steam Coast Trail its a beautiful, traffic-free path that runs for 2km alongside Dunster Beach. Perfect for a gentle walk, bike ride, scoot or jog – it’s super smooth for also great for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There are benches and bike racks so it’s great for taking in the view!🚂

there is a 44 minute walk in the opposite direction where you can walk from Dunster beach - Minehead you can walk along the beach if the sea is out far enough if not there is a path along the top of the beach

Torre Cider Farm is very family-friendly. Visitors can enjoy a kids’ play area, orchard walk, and interact with friendly farm animals. Or maybe you fancy a Owners Tour or a bite to eat in the cafe 🫖☕🧁🍰🍕🍳
🐾Dogs are welcome in all areas of the farm, including the shop and farmhouse kitchen. They can even take a stroll through the beautiful orchard, provided they are kept on a lead.

Driftwood Cafe Blue Anchor - The Driftwood is a licensed 1930’s beachside Cafe and Restaurant alongside the Coast path, with the beach in front of the cafe and the West Somerset Railway running directly behind it. - The Blue Anchor steam railway station is only 50 meters away!
Seating inside, outside and a sheltered verandah to suit the weather and seasons.
They are renowned for they're breakfast offering served until 3:30pm along with the fish and chips and other fish dishes and the ice cream Kiosk during the warmer months. The menu also includes many other options, from a children’s sandwich to a Pork and Apple burger.

🎉This Weekend 🎉
Saturday 1St June - The RNLI are holding a festival event at the West Somerset Railway on Minehead Station on Saturday 1st June between 10am and 6pm. We will be running a blue timetable that day, so there is plenty of opportunity to come and visit!
The event is a celebration of local cider and apple producers, featuring 5 different producers, all of whom are artisan exponents of the art of making Cider. Each producer will have a static display where their products will be sold. In addition, there will be a number of musical entertainers from the local area through the day.
Catering displays will be selling locally sourced products, with a hog roast and BBQ. An RNLI fundraising display will be accompanied by bucket collectors in the railway station area.

Sunday 2nd June - There will be a set of free bus services around the area, using a range of vehicles from the 1930’s, through to more modern times. There will be a 20 minute frequency service running out to the West Somerset Railway at Bishops Lydeard.

Your one-off opportunity to take the bus, once again, from Taunton Bus Station around the town or out into the country. There's a great variety of vehicles to choose from, authentic routes for enthusiasts and destinations to suit the whole family.

Minehead Beach 🏖 - just a 18 min drive from railway properties and 38 mins from lavender hill holiday.
Minehead beach, known as The Strand, is a wide expanse of sand, with some areas of shingle and a variety of rock pools. As the tide goes out this sandy stretch of beach becomes ideal for beach games and for building sandcastles.
There is lots to do at Minehead including Amusement Arcades, crazy golf, Minehead train station, Crabbing at the harbor, shops, pubs and cafes and much more.
Dogs are not allowed on the main beach between the harbor and the golf course from the start of May until the end of September. but can go in other areas.

Taunton Independent Market takes place Today, on Castle Green in the centre of Taunton.. ( just a 10min drive from lavender hill properties and 20 mins from the Railway cottage and carriage)

With FREE PARKING in Taunton on Sundays and most of the town centre shops and cafes open, it’s a brilliant day to come in for some fabulous outdoor shopping and to explore the whole of our beautiful town centre.

whether its a trip to explore the boat or radio museum 🛥, crabbing off the harbour 🦀, fossil hunting and rock pooling at Helwell bay, visiting the harbour and marina, a walk along the mineral line or SW coastal path or a heritgate ale or local cider in one of the pubs there is lots to see and do.
