Here at Fred & Mildred, we help our clients with travel, events and brand recognition. Whilst Mildred has been busy on the travel side of the business, Fred has been jetting back and forth to Africa over the past twelve months with a set of brilliantly diverse events and projects; supporting and watching in awe as Africa continues to grow into the continent of the future.

Rwanda is certainly our stronghold and provides an incredible base and gateway to the rest of the continent. With our long-standing client, and business partner being based here, it’s really becoming a home-from-home.

A quick recap…

May 2022 saw us at the finals held in Kigali, Rwanda to a sold-out crowd at the . We’ve come full circle and we’re currently here for the 2023 finals - more on that later!

In June 2022, we were assisting with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda .

July 2022 was some family time and a three-week trip to Zambia with our 16-year-old twins who had successfully completed their GCSEs.

Rubavu, Rwanda hosted the inaugural Ironman 70.3 in August 2022 and it was an honour for to be part of the team.

September 2022 was a busy one, facilitating ‘live’ in Ghana alongside all in and around the Global Citizen Festival in Accra with .

In October we were in Botswana attending the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum with .

January was the start of an exciting event with , and , bringing to Kigali in March for the FIFA Annual Congress. From market stalls to world class food delivered by a team of great chefs!

As well as all that, throw in trade shows in Singapore, Cannes, Marbella & Dubai, some R&R and we are ready for the next 12 months…

This year has seen a welcome return of travel and exploration. If you've managed to get away from it all, or you've been saving yourself for something special, why not let New Year's Eve be the occasion?

As we say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II, we take a look at some of the iconic places she travelled to. From Scotland to Australia, the Queen visited over 120 countries throughout her lifetime!

Scotland was known fondly as the 'Queen's playground', and a stay at is just a short way from the Balmoral Estate.

The Queen and Prince Philip lived in Malta for 2 years before her crowning, and often returned to the beautiful island. overlooks the spectacular Grand Harbour in Valletta.

Canada was where the Queen chose to spend her Golden Jubilee. The is renowned for impeccable service, and their hotel in Toronto, , is a perfect place to re-energise.

If wildlife trips are your thing, the beautiful Indian Ocean attracts incredible Whale Sharks into its crystal clear waters between November and May. If you'd like to learn about these mysterious gentle giants, swimming along side them under the waves, or observing them from deck, offers day and night diving and snorkelling adventures to get up close to one of these magnificent creatures.

When there's a stunning estate so close to home, it's difficult not to get over-excited, but is definitely worth the excitement!

Wilderness Reserve is an 8000-acre estate of woodland, lakes and rolling pasture, with a wonderful collection of original properties that have been lovingly restored each with their own unique quirks and features.

The team at Wilderness Reserve have just introduced us to their new spa cottage, Doxie. They describe her as a "wonderous waterside lodge" and they're never normally wrong with their descriptions! A two storey, one bedroomed thatched cottage with a private spa and sitting on the edge of a private, natural swimming pond - what's not to love?

For millennia, water has been a great companion for mankind and is such a vital element to nature’s uplifting properties.

Having committed to nature being part of my everyday life into the future, it seems fitting to spend some time exploring and sharing some of New Zealand’s water focused playgrounds; be they on land or sea.

The past couple of years hasn’t seemed the right time to be adding to our social media feeds on dream destinations, particularly as the world was forced into adopting a more constrained and often fully restricted approach to travel. It finally feels like that time has passed and the world is reawakening with diverse cultures once again connecting in person and face to face. No amount of virtual calls can replace the emotions stirred by the sights, sounds and smells of travel, nor the greatest luxury of headspace and gaining a perspective from one’s day to day life that it can bring.

The pandemic has come with huge stresses and for many has been life changing in the saddest of circumstances, but it has also been a great period for reflection and re-evaluating for all involved. A strengthening of family bonds and a focus on everything that is important in leading a fulfilled life.

As we all emerge changed into a new era, Fred & Mildred is on the move again and excited to be bringing updates and inspiration from around the globe. New Zealand has always been a large part of Fred & Mildred’s fabric and seems a fitting place to be this month, reconnecting with family.
