Our next photo competition entry comes from Jock who spent a week in Trysil with the family over half term.

Trysil is home to Norway's largest ski area. The slopes are quiet, even in the school holidays and the broad nature of most of the runs make them fantastic to ski together as a family.

Plus, there are lots of non-skiing activities to keep everyone entertained, including dog sledding!

To top off what looked a cracking holiday, the Northern Lights even made an appearance.

Thank you for sending us your wonderful photos, Jock!

"Fabulous resort if you like very quiet pistes and no queues. Perfectly groomed runs, ideal for beginners and intermediate skiing.

From the first call back phone call, everything ran like clockwork. We booked a day trip to a fjord with all ticketing provided via email. Transfers were easy as we were picked up from outside the Myrkdalen Hotel."

The fjords are a superb day trip we always recommend when staying in Myrkdalen! We're happy to hear your holiday was smooth and you enjoyed the quiet slopes.

Thank you for your photos and review, Theresa.

"Such a beautiful day in Whistler.

Good snow up high, almost empty slopes even on the most popular runs, skied straight onto every lift, amazing views and all in glorious sunshine.

Finished off with a beer on the patio... my perfect ski day."

50cm of snowfall in the past week and bright blue sunny skies - Richard is definitely making the most of conditions in Whistler right now!

Our next photo competition entry comes from Janice, who also visited the bustling ski town of Banff earlier this winter!

"Banff is a beautiful town, with the most breathtaking views, friendly locals, good choices of restaurants and a free roam bus."

Thank you for the review and snaps, Janice!

At the start of the month, Nicola flew to Canada to ski two of the country's most exciting destinations - Banff and Kicking Horse.

Here's what she made of Banff and its resorts:

"Lake Louise is wonderful. The ski friends are such an asset to the mountain and we skied with them several times. There is endless terrain to explore. Sunshine is my favourite, one afternoon we stayed on Goats Eye and skied powder and hardly saw another person. All the food we had in the self service canteens was tasty and good value. At both mountains there are friendly volunteers to help with any queries."

What about Kicking Horse?

"So much more blue run skiing, so don’t be put off by the extreme mountain reviews. We absolutely loved Kicking Horse. The Eagles Eye restaurant is fabulous. Best food we had in Canada and such good value. The views are incredible. Very easy for us as a couple to ski slightly different routes meeting at the bottom and travelling in the gondola together."

Finally, this is what Nicola had to say about the service she received from Ski Safari:

"Knowledgeable, friendly and efficient."

Exactly what we strive for! Thank you for your brilliant photos and reviews, Nicola.

"We first used Ski Safari 24 years ago for our family North American ski holidays. We have used them ever since and will continue to do so. Their knowledge of the variety of ski resort we have been to, and their service has always been excellent."

With magnificent backdrops and an excellent variety of skiing in every resort, Lake Tahoe is a fantastic destination to a multi destination ski holiday in North America. We're glad we were able to help you organise a trip there, Cyril!

Thank you for the review and the scenic shots of the lake.

"Small but perfect, Myrkdalen was a little gem!

During the week there were no queues and the pistes were quiet, there is also plenty of off piste to go at too.

We had a great time with Wild Voss ski touring in a nearby valley.

The facilities and staff were first rate. We will be back."

More high praise for Myrkdalen! Thank you for submitting your photos and leaving a great review Kerry.

"Amazing resort for all abilities."

Åre is one of Scandinavia’s largest ski resorts and ten-time winner of Sweden's Best Ski Resort by the World Ski Awards!

Thanks to the quantity and quality of the resort, skiers of every ability will have a whale of a time cruising down the typically uncrowded slopes!

Thank you for you review and excellent photos, Paul.

"Andy at Ski Safari organised the most amazing itinerary for our honeymoon trip to Japan.

Everything ran so smoothly and he gave us lots of tips and tricks to maximise our time and to make the most of Japan.

We loved Kyoto and managed to squeeze in so much into our days there. We saw plenty of the temples and shrines with Sanjusangden-do blowing us away and seeing Kinkaku-ji at the most beautiful time of day. We managed as well to get to Nara for the bowing deer and giant Buddha.

We were both absolutely blown away by Tokyo. We had been warned about how manic and busy it would be compared to Kyoto, but weirdly we both found it quieter and calmer and we loved it so much more than we ever thought we would. We also saw Mt Fuji three times!!

And then the snow!! It was the most snow we had ever seen and made for out of this world skiing and snowboarding - Getting a gondola to dinner was such a novelty. We had an amazing dinner in Yan Shu Ten & also in the Barn, but honestly everything we ate and drank was impeccable.

Ski Safari as a company really made everything effortless and smooth in planning what was quite a daunting trip when we first started researching it!

Truly the trip of a lifetime and I would recommend Ski Safari to anybody."

Reviews like this make our week! Thank you Emily. The photos you took are stunning too.

If you needed further proof of the super quiet slopes in Myrkdalen, Sonny has delivered some cracking shots from his holiday last month.

Sonny has also captured Myrkdalen's beautiful scenery which you can stop and enjoy in peace without getting in anyone's way!

Thank you for your photos, Sonny.

"Myrkdalen is lovely. At the time we visited the pistes were empty and the snow was perfect powder - we really enjoyed the wide open blue runs and very achievable red runs.

Ski Safari were great from start to finish, the booking process was easy and all the information provided was great."

Thank you for the photos and review, Michelle! They really sum up why Myrkdalen is a fantastic destination to ski if you're looking for quiet slopes where you can build your confidence.

If these photos of scenic ski touring and peaceful floating sauna's don't entice you you to experience a Norway ski holiday, we don't know what will!

Thank you for your photos, Lara.

If seeing skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes this season has you itching to join in the fun, you're in luck - we still have some fantastic snow-sure options available for 2025, but they won’t be around for long!

Whether you're hunting for a quick getaway closer to home at one of Scandinavia’s peaceful resorts, or eager to explore North America’s expansive and varied ski areas, 20 destinations are still available for March, Easter, and April 2025 from £780pp.

There’s no need to hesitate about hitting the slopes later in the season; with impressive snowfall throughout the winter - including 699cm in Jackson Hole, 564cm in Whistler and 215cm in Myrkdalen - hefty snowpacks have formed across many of our resorts. You’ll also be able to maximise your time on the pistes with extra hours of daylight and little to no queuing at the lifts.

The only thing you need to worry about is keeping the goggle tan to a minimum while skiing on plenty of snow in the sunshine!

With first-hand experience and in-depth knowledge of all our resorts, we’re able to help you find a package at the best possible price at resorts that hold their snow all season long.

When the weather closes in and visibility is low, do you shelter in the spa or do you layer up, grab your low-light goggles and make the most of all the fresh snow?

You can probably guess which option we go for!

Last week, Amy, Elisabeth, Richard and Sarah were treated to a serious snow day in Myrkdalen and were lucky enough to be joined on the slopes by photographer Chris Baldry from Norway's Best.

No, these aren't professional photos of Whistler's stunning scenery. They are the latest entry to our 2024/25 photo competition which come from Alistair.

We loved how these snaps captured the scale of North America's biggest ski area and the heavy amount of snow it received in December.

Thank you, Alistair!

Our Story

We’ve been tailor-making ski holidays since 1996, when our founders Richard and Samantha Rice first started Ski Safari. Back then, only a few UK companies were organising ski trips to North America but Richard and Sam were convinced that other Brits would love skiing in Canada as much as they did.

Offering more freedom than other ski operators, Richard and Sam gave skiers the option to see more of the country they were visiting, and to ski at multiple resorts. This led to our pioneering ‘ski safari’ concept, which is now a defining feature of our brand.

Today, we remain true to our roots. Richard and Sam still own 100% of Ski Safari, which is run by our friendly team of skiers and snowboarders from our coach-house offices, close to the beach in Hove. Our concept is the same as it was back in 1996 - we offer quality ski holidays that are tailor-made using first-hand knowledge and delivered with outstanding service.
