Dear friends of Zoox,

After many years of inactivity, both Chloe, JJ and Sam have come to the decision to close down Zoox. This is actually a success story – the energy provided by Zoox and the many volunteers we hosted has resulted in Reef-World’s Green Fins initiative thriving and expanding to many many destinations. As such, we just can’t dedicate the time that Zoox deserves.
Zoox was an amazing idea that has supported so many individuals, communities, government offices, NGOs but most of all, coastal and marine environments. The success was entirely due to those individuals who supported it and the passion of the 56 volunteers who joined the Zoox Experience Programme. Our goal was to help people get a foot in a door who are interested in getting into marine conservation, and we did just that.

The majority of the volunteers (ZEPs as they affectionally become known) came from all over the world and many of them have gone on to achieve incredible things in the field of marine conservation. Many came to Zoox without any experience or training in the sector and have since gone on to work for respected organisations including the UK government, IUCN, World Resources Institute and some incredible NGOs working both nationally and internationally. We are incredibly proud of each one of you.

Green Fins Philippines, which Zoox was helping to set up, is now firmly embedded within the Philippines government as a result of the ZEPs supporting the initial start-up years. Communities are more aware of their impacts on our seas and oceans, local government units were supported in their national roles, teachers and school children received more information - and this is all thanks to Zoox staff and the volunteers.

We want to a say a big thank you to Sam and Alan who worked tirelessly to really nurture those who joined the ZEP. Without your support our conservation programmes wouldn’t be where they are today.

We will be closing down this page soon, so download any photos or content that you want to remember your experience by. And we invite you to follow our journey with The Reef-World Foundation which is going from strength to strength. Stay in touch and let us know what you are up to. We love hearing from ZEPs and hearing how you are all getting on.

Never give up on your dreams. Nothing can stop a determined, passionate hard-working individual from doing whatever they want in life.
