A Magic Movers session comprises 30 minutes of simple movement to music sequences aimed at 3-5 year olds with an adult companion. Older and younger children are also welcome. Every session features some original music. Sessions always begin and end in the same way because repetition and familiarity is important for young children. The middle part of the session will focus on a variety of movement
themes and may include some or all of the following:
UP, DOWN, CRAWL, WALK, RUN, HOP, JUMP, CREEP, MARCH, TURN, SHAKE, OPEN, CLOSE, FAST, SLOW, CLAP, STAMP, BEND, BOUNCE, SWING, ANIMALS, WORDS, NUMBERS, NOISES, FORWARDS, BACKWARDS, SIDEWAYS
and more! All sessions are lead by Kay Oulds. She is a qualified Early Years Practitioner with a B.A.(Hons.) degree in Creative Arts – Dance & Drama and has also studied Health Related Exercise for Children, Anatomy and Physiology. Kay is always updating her underpinning knowledge and gradually introduces new material to keep her sessions enjoyable. She is always happy to discuss the rationale behind the content of Magic Movers sessions and can adapt and modify the session content for children with additional needs. Kay has an enhanced CRB disclosure which is available to view on request. DO PARENTS AND CARERS JOIN IN? Magic Movers enables people to get active together in a fun, imaginative way, so adults are strongly encouraged to join in throughout. Children learn immense amounts from copying a familiar adult. You don’t need to be fit, just willing to participate within your own abilities, and bring your sense of humour with you! DO ALL THE CHILDREN JOIN IN? Some children participate fully from the outset whilst others may take several sessions to engage. Magic Movers allows each child to participate at their own pace, with appropriate encouragement from the session leader and participating adults. Some children may prefer to just watch at first and that’s fine. Our sessions are full of praise for all the children, whether they join in all the time or not. To encourage your child, simply participate fully in the session yourself, so that your child can watch you and gain the confidence to copy your actions. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? The overriding atmosphere is one of fun, but rest assured that the sessions are carefully constructed to provide valuable learning opportunities for your child and are devised to link to the Early Years Foundation Stage. Here are just a few of the benefits:
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY at an early age promotes a lifelong love of movement. Active children are more likely to be active adults – paving the way for a happy, healthy future. KINESTHETIC INTELLIGENCE - Movement stimulates neural wiring and spatial awareness. It can help with maths and logic, music, linguistics, social and interpersonal skills. IT'S FUN! Children experience praise and success, which enhances self esteem, confidence, creativity and self expression. SO WHY NOT COME AND GIVE MAGIC MOVERS A TRY? A WARM WELCOME AWAITS YOU.
