Today see the last chase day for Tour 3 as we make our way towards Denver tonight/tomorrow morning.

A small chase planned today in north east Texas Panhandle close to the Canadian area. With temps close to 94°f we won’t be expecting any 🌪️ but storms nevertheless!

A few have fired already but we feel the main show is yet to begin!

Fingers crossed for a cracking last day!

Well Oklahoma made us wait yet again!

After siting in nearly 100°f heat for a week while, storms showed up later than planned but we welcomed them to the party!

Explosive convection around 7:30pm forced us to dive South towards Lawton as a supercell developed in front of us near Anardarko, TX. This was so close to producing a tornado as we watch a couple grown stronger and rapid rotation was in front of us. As the rain came, we dropped south as it started to line out in to an MCS. Great light show put on by the storm but all 🌪️ chances had diminished.

We finished up in Lawton after Buffalo Wild Wings fed the team and had a few beers in the lobby to decompress!

Todays risk keeps us in Oklahoma for the second day after a long 641 mile drive for a sunset!

Today’s outlook has more confidence and we are expecting supercells to develop and interact with an outflow boundary from 4-6 pm CDT. A 5% 🌪️ risk for a small area as well as a hail and wind threat.

Until then, we are currently sat up on the summit of Mount Scott in be the Wichita Mountain Range of Oklahoma! Yes! Oklahoma has a mountain range.

We will keep you up to date as the day pans out

Ok Oklahoma lets do this!
MD Issued

The expectation is for initial dryline/Pacific front development to
occur in southwest KS and build south into the eastern TX
Panhandle/western OK vicinity by late afternoon. Ample low to
deep-layer shear will support several supercells with very large
hail, tornadoes, and severe gusts probable. The impinging of an
intense upper jet from NM into western OK over the next several
hours, along with strengthening of low-level flow this evening, will
yield an increasingly favorable kinematic environment for long-track
and intense supercells capable of significant tornadoes, especially
with southern extent in western/central OK.

Todays risk reminds me a bit of May 9th 2013 when we chased an Enhanced Hail Risk down near Abilene and shot one of our best Structured Hail Supercell near Balinger (Texas) this thing threw out 3" Stones and we had Hail Fog in the Town for around 45 minutes afterewards. Anyone Core Punching today hopefully you can avoid the big Donks!

The Textures on this LP Supercell were some of the Best I have ever seen in 20 years of Chasing!

Some Exciting news to share for 2025. As well as our normal Aurora Trips to Norway we will be having a Photography Masterclass Trip to Tromso with Award winning Photgrapher John Finney along for the ride. Learn all about settings and getting the best shots for the Aurora along with Post Processing at the 5* Accommodation the next morning.

Alongside this trip we Embark in March to our first Trip to Iceland which also Includes the Lunar Eclipse on March 14th. This trip is a bit different to our Norway trips and runs much the same way as our US Tornado Trips by way of being on the road and following the clear skies to different areas of Iceland and not staying put in 1 place for the duration. Also different is this is a 7 day trip as opposed to the normal 5 days for our Norway adventures.

Details Below

Join us on a photography masterclass tour with John Finney in Tromso, Norway. Explore the Arctic Circle, snow, whale watching, & the Aurora. Limited spots.

Tour 1 Buckle up Next Week for a Fast Start!

While minor trough-geometry
differences exist amongst the models, the combination of
strengthening shear, a potentially deep surface low and ample
moisture and instability necessitate introducing severe
probabilities for parts of the Plains on Monday. All facets of
severe appear possible with such a system, including supercells,
squall lines, tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail.

Another Day another Tornado. Stunning footage from Aaron Jayjack of the Westmoreland Tornado from about an hour ago. Since then another Picture Perfect Tornado has touched down SE of Vermillion in Kansas. Flint Hills Magic doing its thang again!

Initial damage assessments have been completed of the tornado outbreak that struck Nebraska and Iowa on Friday.

Some mad scenes this past week with Chasers thankfully avoiding some pretty scary scenes. These 2 are just a few of many near misses and the Hazards we have to put up with on the Higher Risk Days. First Video is from Iowa from Friday and nothing the guy could do about this thing happening.

Will put the 2nd Video in the Comments of another incident from Saturday in Oklahoma, a scene straight out of the 1996 Twister Movie when a 44 Tonne Lorry gets thrown from the Marietta Tornado some way in front and lands on the Northbound Carraigeway of Interstate 35

A total solar eclipse will make a 115-mile-wide path across parts of Mexico, USA and eastern Canada on Monday. The WeatherHolidays team will be there to witness it, as part of a special storm chase tour. 🌞⚡🌪️

A total solar eclipse will make a 115-mile-wide path across parts of Mexico, USA and eastern Canada on Monday. Over 30 million people live in its path with thousands more from elsewhere traveling to see it, so there will be a lot of people on the roads to find a spot to see it.

Going to be a real roller coaster of a ride on the Models for Cloud Cover over the next 7-8 Days. Latest 12z Guidance still has me happy with my Arkansas/Missouri Bootheel/S Ilinois choice as a brief ridge looks to build in. GFS wants to slam another Big Low through in the 8-10th Timeframe but knowing its progressive bias am hopeful of a stronger ridge over the Missouri Valley for our Eclipse Viewing. Only another 38 model runs to go 😆😆
Then the trough can eject all it likes for the 9th onwards for our Tornado Chasing part of the trip.

What would you do if this was coming straight at you - Shot this North of Abilene (KS) on the 25th May 2016. At this Stage it was doing EF4 and Borderline EF5 Damage as it moved to the ESE along an Outflow Boundary at 12mph. We could hear an Audible Roar at this stage.

So would you run or go Chase! If you would Chase it then you might just want the last space left on Tour 4 this year - I have a feeling Kansas is going to be busy this year.

Incredible to think that in just 1 Months Time we will be getting ready for the 2024 Eclipse which is one of the longest duration events in our lifetimes.

I cant believe after the last Eclipse in Aug 2017 we started to put a trip together and from that we had around 30 Interested People who wanted to get on the list for a 14 day trip which included the Eclipse on April 8th and 2 weeks of Tornado Chasing. From that as you would expect around 40% of people dropped away and so we are left with 19 on this trip. A lot has happened since with Covid and rising Inflation across the world but we kept our price on this Tour. Cant wait to get out there and make this another trip of a Lifetime for our guests.

Here is a picture from John Finney from the last Eclipse Trip in 2017 when we targeted Wyoming that year lets hope the Skies are as kind to us this time when we will be setting up shop in Arkansas.
