Here at Poseidon Swim School we pride ourselves in providing high quality swimming tuition for all ages and abilities. For the past 20 years we have been running our small family business from home and our numbers have expanded to over 2,500 pupils. Our constantly evolving busin

ess and team has grown to over 25 members of fully qualified, trained and police checked staff. Not only are our staff trained to instruct swimming to a very high standard, but are trained to provide a safe and enjoyable learning experience for their pupils. Our Instructors are fully qualified with the Swimming Teachers Association or the Amateur Swimming Association. are also members of the Institute of Swimming Teachers and Coaches. Many of our Instructors have undertaken further specialist training to improve their knowledge of instructing disabled and special needs pupils. What do we offer?
- A small ratio of 1 teacher to 4 pupils in each class
- A thoughtful, caring and fully qualified instructor trained to plan and achieve goals for you or your child.
- Individual teaching: Although each pupil will be in a class with three others, the way in which they learn as an individual is always taken into consideration.
- Specialist teachers to accommodate special needs pupils
- Teachers remain in the water with pupils until they are ready to be instructed from the poolside

A friend sent me this picture which brought back amazing memories being part of Swansea Otters Swimming club. Throw back to the 80’s winning a first in the club championships.

Looking back it was such a great time travelling to galas every Saturday on the bus and singing along to the top 40 hits we’d taped from the radio ! No mobile phones, no social media, just chatting and making great friends.

Obviously the actual swimming training was important to, as it gave me the determination to keep progressing into lifeguarding at the pool & the beach then on to swim teaching 🔱

Katie learnt to swim with us as a child together with her two sisters.

She now teaches at Poseidon Swim School Wed and Friday evenings.

Bishop Gore lessons are cancelled today Sunday 8th Dec.

We are not allowed to use the pool today due to some damage to the roof caused by the strong winds.

Swimming Cancelled tomorrow Sat 8th Dec due to the red weather warning at Pennard & Pentrehafod pool.

As always this cancelled lesson will be credited to next term.

When he was little we always said one day he’d make a fab swim teacher. He was such a well mannered child and Im so glad to say he has retained his lovely manners. We are so lucky to have him 🥰

Its been quite a week in Swim School, lots of children achieving badges but there are always those who touch our hearts.

The little lady in the picture came to us so nervous and worried about swimming on her back,crying every week. Together with mum and dad we’ve worked on her confidence and this week she got her 10m badge. She can also now express thats shes nervous and ask for extra help rather than crying which is a massive step forward. I was so thrilled, she made me cry ( even after 33 years of teaching swimming it still makes me so emotional ! )

And … this little man made me so proud doing his 100m badge. When he was little he used to come in and say to me “just call me superstar “ 😂😂 as he had been given a part in a BBC drama…. You might have seen him in Lost Boys & Fairies. Even superstars have to learn to swim !

Cant wait to see what next week brings 🔱

We are so lucky in swim school to be able to accommodate all swimming ability levels. One of our advanced lanes has started working on the Junior Lifeguard Awards. Ive started teaching them some more advanced lifesaving and they did so well ! Our Poseidon lifeguards in the future hopefully …. 🔱
