As many of you know, I spent much time in and around the village of Imlil close to the epicentre of the recent earthquake. This is the latest update from my friend and owner of the Kasbah Du Toubkal Mike McHugo.

Earthwake update Imlil N01 9th September

The road to Imlil is currently closed and there is no electricity or telecommunications.

We are pleased to inform you that all the Kasbah du Toubkal staff and guests were unharmed during the devasting earthwake of the 8 September. The quake is a national disaster with many loosing their lives, our thoughts go out to everyone who has lost friends and family.

I would like to thank all our staff who looked after are guests so well that night. I would also like to thank the lovely group of guests who stayed with us that fateful night and the empathy and gratitude they showed our staff and the people of Imlil.

I have been touched by the many messages of empathy and support from past visitors to our Kasbah.

Many of you have been asking about the Education For All girls. The new term had not yet started so the girls were not in the EFA houses but were in their homes many of these would have been close to the epicentre and their houses of poor quality so we fear there may be sad news from some of these villages. Please look at EFA social media for updates on EFA.

A great week away on the stunning isle of Karpathos in south east Greece. An ideal place for those wanting to hike trails without the madding crowds of other locations. Our trip was made by the help of Minas at Dorana Hotel in the laid back village of Diafani, some 60 min drive from the captial Karpathos.
