A friend of mine recently shared this & it really spoke to me so I want to share it with you too.

“You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

"Well because someone bumped into me, of course!"

Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was _coffee_ in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled _tea_.

*Whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out.*

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.
*So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"

When life gets tough, what spills over?

Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?

Or anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

You choose!

Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others."

Walking has so many health benefits, even going for a brisk 10 minute walk a day.

Last January I started off walking 15 minutes a day in my bid to lose weight and get healthier.

Now I can walk 12 miles and am proud to have lost 59lbs in weight and it all started with a 15 minute walk.

"Walking is a man's best medicine", said Hippocrates over 2,000 years ago – and a growing body of scientific evidence suggests he wasn't wrong.

There has been quite a lot in the press recently about magnesium deficiencies and taking supplements.

Magnesium deficiency is dramatically under-diagnosed because it doesn’t show up on a blood test! Only 1% of the magnesium in your body is stored in your blood, and the majority of it’s stored in your bones.

Some of the main health challenges that have been linked to a magnesium deficiency include:

Hormone imbalance and PMS
Fibromyalgia
Heart attack
Type 2 diabetes
Osteoporosis
Constipation
Tension or migraine headaches
Anxiety and depression
Chronic fatigue

As you can see, increasing your intake of high magnesium foods is essential to your health.

If you think you might be low in magnesium, your best way to address this issue is to start consuming foods that are high in magnesium.

Buying foods from your local farmers market and foods that are grown organically may have higher levels of magnesium. The soil from conventional farms is depleted of magnesium because they don’t rotate their crops or let the land rest. Also, they typically only put nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium back in the soil, but leave out magnesium.

Typically, the foods you’ll find that are highest in magnesium are green leafy vegetables, which are packed with chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is known as the “life blood” of a plant and has the ability to absorb the sun’s light and turn it into energy.

One major difference between human blood and chlorophyll is that human blood has iron at the center of the cell, but plants have magnesium at the center of the cell.

Green leafy vegetables aren’t the only foods rich in magnesium and chlorophyll. Here are the top 10 foods high in magnesium that you will want to add into your diet.

What did you learn about yourself this past weekend?

Did you go through the motions of a weekend or did you do something that made you smile, that made your heart sing? Did you learn what makes you happy?

My 3 day weekend away in Majorca showed me how much I have changed in the past 8 months. Some of you will know since January I have made some serious lifestyle changes and as a result lost an impressive 4 stone in weight (56lbs or 28kg). Last time I was in Majorca for a weekend break I lay on a sun lounger the whole time, drank cocktails, drank coffee sweetened with condensed milk and availed myself of all the food included in my half board. Any wonder I always put on more weight while I was away.

This time without thinking about it I was eating healthy food, on reflection I ate mostly protein with very few carbs. I did have some wine and a cheeky glass of amaretto, but it was predominately water that I drank every day. The biggest change was not having my coffee with condensed milk in it, a Spanish favourite and it was only when I was sitting in the airport to head home that I realised I hadn't even thought about having one.

I also learned that being outdoors, walking is an essential part of my life. I am happy when I am walking, but most especially walking beside the sea in a temperate climate.

It's amazing learning how much I have changed. I can now walk into a hotel buffet, look and admire all the lovely food but still without thinking chose wholesome food, fruit, vegetables, protein and easily avoid the processed and things containing refined sugar. I walked an average of 5 miles every day, starting and ending my day with a walk. There was lots of swimming as well so I was averaging 2.5 hours of activity a day.

Do I feel relaxed? That is an easy one......yes. I have learned much about myself and the changes in me. I spoke to no one except in shops and hotels, I enjoyed the silence that comes from not talking, the quietness of the mind, the clarity that comes with pausing.

I am determined to create a life that allows me to live in a temperate climate, to be outdoors, to be beside the sea, to walk and swim on a daily basis.

What did you learn from your weekend?
