On this sunny August day our thoughts obviously turn to New Year's Eve! This year we have four New Year's Eve events and they are all now up on our website ready for booking. These events include a welcome drink, fabulous four course dinner, murder mystery (of course!), and a disco to bring in the New Year.

For New Year's Eve 2024/5 we have events at New Hall Hotel & Spa in the West Midlands, Audleys Wood Hotel in Hampshire, Woodlands Park Hotel in Surrey and Walton Hall Hotel & Spa in Warwickshire.

Our plot this year is Nursing a Grudge. Meadowfields Retirement Homes are holding their first Awards for Excellence evening. Management hope that the interdepartmental competition will spur their employees towards making more changes for the better. However, someone is going to find out that change always comes at a price...

Exciting news! We're currently in the middle of writing our new weekend plot for autumn, which is called Fatal Blow.

Wellingford Brass are attending the Brass Renaissance Festival, an annual celebration of the poignantly uplifting sound of the brass band, an enduring British tradition. The festival is almost unique within the notoriously competitive brass band community. It is not a competition; rather it was set up to be an antidote to the endless rota of competitive events: a chance for bands of all ability levels to meet up and simply play for the sheer enjoyment of it. So when it was announced that this year there would be a small award in recognition of the "best performance of the weekend", there was a mixed response from attendees. Some think it is a manifestation of the elitism within the community - others are of the opinion that it is only fair to encourage excellence. Wellingford Brass are equally divided on the issue - but someone will do anything to win...

Coming up this autumn - a change of evening plot! We're delighted to bring you "End of Story". Leanna Sergeant, author of the hugely popular "Ice Mist" fantasy novel series, is celebrating the launch of the final book in the saga. She is appearing at a number of special dinners across the country to mark the occasion, where fans will get a chance to hear her talk about the final instalment and get hold of an advance copy of the book. With much anticipation regarding how the tale will conclude and which characters in the story will survive to the end, will anyone pay attention to who will survive the evening..?

Events are filling up quickly at the moment, so we've added another new date to our 2024 diary, at the Alveston Manor Hotel & Spa on Friday 28th June. We don't usually do Fridays but this is a bit of a one-off so that we can cater for the demand we have at the moment! This event will start a bit later, at 8pm rather than 7.30, to allow for the working day.

We are so excited to be taking our murder mysteries to Avisford Park near Arundel in Sussex next year. Bookings will open soon.

Come to our Murder Mystery event, hosted by The Killing Game Limited. This takes place over a three-course dinner, where a team of experienced actors argue, ally, scheme and fight in specially plotted scenes. You are the detectives, so watch and listen, question the characters and try to work out who is hiding what. After the murder has occurred, join in the interrogation of the remaining suspects to try and work out who you think did it, how and why🔎

We're almost into September and that can only mean one thing... time to plan for New Year's Eve (honestly, it'll be here before you know it)!. This year we are running a murder mystery evening at four fabulous hotels: Walton Hall Hotel & Spa in Warwickshire, New Hall Hotel & Spa in the West Midlands, Bailbrook House Hotel in Bath and our first New Year's Eve event at Woodlands Park Hotel in Surrey.

A black tie event complete with welcome drink, four course dinner, murder mystery, a disco until 1am and accommodation and breakfast, a Killing Game New Year's Eve murder mystery is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the start of 2023 with friends and family.

This year, our plot for New Year's Eve is Detective Friction. You've won an opportunity to join the stars of popular Sunday night television show "Beyond Pryce". Owen Pryce is a hapless private investigator in a sleepy Welsh village; he lives with his mother, who ends up solving most of the cases for him without him realising it. The whimsical charm of the show has won it good audience figures. And surely the stars of so captivating and delightful a programme must be equally pleasant and friendly... Mustn't they?

Following on from last week's announcement about our new weekend plot for autumn, we can also now announce our new evening plot, which is called The Game Is Up.

It is the twelfth annual International Pinnacle Federation's Champions' Tournament. Pinnacle is a classic British strategy game that attracts fans from all over the world and this is the highlight of their calendar. Matches are going on all weekend and this is the gala dinner at the end of the first day. There have been lots of winners and losers and a few upsets. Barry Mercer is the reigning champion and looks to be crowned Pinnacle Champion for the sixth year running. However, will the rumours of division on the committee distract from the excitement around the boards? And who is this year's wild card entry and why are they causing such a stir?

The Game Is Up starts in October and runs until January, so book now for a fantastic evening out!
