Herts & Essex BCS Society will be holding its AGM at 7pm on Wednesday 17th July 2024 at the Fox PH, Garboldisham, Norfolk. All current members are welcome to attend. With our show fast approaching, a message to those exhibiting in our stakes classes.
These are all held, simultaneously at 9am in the main arena, before breed judging at 10am. As usual for our show these are high risk, high reward "Winner takes all" stakes, with the winner getting £50.. Your numbers will be in the stakes ring. If you miss the stakes class but are still entered in your breed, you will need to collect your number from the secs table, after the stakes classes have finished, as it is unlikely we will have the time or the resources to reallocate the numbers to each individual breed ring!

Entries for our show finally closed last night.
And what an entry we have, 812/1301.
Despite our decision to go online only this year, entries are up from 669/1062 last year. Many thanks to all those who support our show. We can't wait to welcome you on Sunday 24th at Forest Edge Arena. Don't forget to bring some CASH for the Amazing Easter Egg Raffle.... The judging order is in the online schedule, however, as soon as possible I will be publishing the judging order with the number of dogs per breed.

We now have 12 "Senior Stewards" booked for our show but still have lots of places for 2nd stewards. Ideal for those wishing to learn, build their CVs, or offer a limited time for stewarding. ie may be an exhibitor at the show. I would also remind you that this show is online entry only via www.fossedata.co.uk the closing date is Monday 4th March 2024. Due to this being Crufts week an extension is unlikely, so make sure you enter ASAP.

We are still looking for stewards for our show on March 24th at Swaffham. We really value our stewards and the 12 main stewards will receive £40 towards their travel expenses plus lunch money. Secondary stewards, who may also wish to exhibit on the day will be given lunch money and access to the stewards reception where there are tea, coffee and light refreshments available. The schedule for our 2024 Premier Open show is now open for entries at www.fossedata.co.uk.
We will be requiring 12 stewards, known as “Senior stewards” 1 per ring. Senior Stewards are asked to attend for the full duration of their ring inc groups. For this the 12 senior stewards will receive travel expenses of £40 plus additional money for their lunch on the day. Tea/coffee snacks will be available throughout the day.
We would also like to support anyone wanting to gain experience in stewarding, or for exhibitors willing to steward for part of the day. These “junior stewards” will be allocated to a ring to assist the senior steward and/ or cover for breaks. Junior stewards will receive money for lunch and have access to tea/coffee and snacks throughout the day.
Please contact the show secretary via FB or on 07815 171006 if you would like to be a steward for Herts & Essex on 24th March 2024 and help our show run smoothly.

Our next Premier Open Show will be held at Forest Edge Arena, Swaffham on Sunday 24th March 2024.
We have secured an exciting and varied judging panel for you.
The committee have made some changes to the schedule.
There are no changes this year to the breeds scheduled as we have changed the date, so there is no clash with either Retford or Gravesend's shows. All breeds, AVNSC and AV classes will have 4 classes including puppy. The show will also be available to enter ONLINE ONLY. Due to the additional cost and work involved in processing a minority of entries, the committee feel now is the right time to go this route. Whilst a few exhibitors may be upset by this decision, the issues caused by incorrect and lost postal entries, as well as the banking issues in processing payments outweigh the facility used by so few.
We look forward to welcoming you at our 2024 show, look out for our schedule which will be published in the future on

On behalf of the officers and committee of Herts & Essex BCS. I would like to extend our condolences to the family of Jane Thorpe who sadly passed away this morning. Jane was our field officer on many occasions and was always straightforward yet sympathetic, any criticism was delivered with kindness and with a view to helping the show move forward. She will be missed. RIP Jane.

CHANGE OF JUDGE
Kerry Rusby is unfortunately ill and cannot attend the show. BIS will now be judged by Sue Tyler.
Kerry’s breed classes: Samoyeds, Dobermans, Gt Danes, Greenlands, Newfoundlands will now be judged by Mr Gary Gray, who will judge these breeds as advertised in the order of judging, Ring 12 at 10am.
Mr Gray will also judge the AV Pups as per the order of judging in Ring 3.
Exhibitors of Bedlingtons, Border Terriers and BSD Tervs, should note that in order to facilitate the above judging change, their breeds will still be judged in Ring 3, but after the breeds judged by Mr David Knights.
So new order for Ring 3 is as follows:

Just to let you know we are aware the Kennel club calendar is incorrect. Our licenced Premier Open show is on Sunday 19th March 2023 at Drymere, Swaffham and not in May at Dullingham as shown on the KC calendar. The KC have been informed of their error but have yet to change the listing. Sorry but not much else we can do ATM..

Herts & Essex BCS Premier Open show on Sunday 19th March 2023 at Forest Edge arena, Swaffham, Norfolk needs stewards to run the 12 rings used during the show.
Stewards are often undervalued, so this year, we will be looking for 12 Senior Stewards, to be assisted by Junior Stewards.
The 12 Senior stewards will be responsible for their ring throughout the day and must be available to cover their ring from start, 10am to finish and either assist with the Stakes classes 9am or the Groups. They will be assisted by Junior stewards where available and a lunch break will be arranged.
Junior stewards may be those new to stewarding or those wishing to steward as well as show their dogs.
Senior stewards will be given £40pp to help cover their expenses “in addition” to a meal voucher for Lunch and access to light refreshments throughout the day in the Judges reception area.

The schedule for our show on 19th March 2023 will shortly be going live on Fossedata. We look forward to seeing you at our show at this new venue for us, our 4th venue in 4 shows! So, we have had to make adjustments to the schedule but still have over 100 breeds and 380 classes scheduled. We are also starting the show early with 3 stakes classes at 9am.. We hope this will lead to more people entering and attending the stakes classes. We have included a provisional judging order in the schedule to assist with your timings on the day. Please note at this venue rings 9-12 whilst outside are covered with a permament roof and protected from rain.
