We Do Long Haul With Kids 🧒 🧒 ❤️

Long haul travel is not for everyone, but for us it is often the most rewarding type of travel. ❤️

With different cultures, people and traditions from Europe, pushing the boundaries and flying long haul really does come with amazing rewards. 🛕 ✈️

Bringing kids along on long haul adventures can be challenging however with a few modifications it’s well worth it! ❤️

Team We Do have travelled with the We Do kids since they were all 6 months old. They have been as far afield as Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the US. 🇺🇸 🇭🇰 🇹🇭 🇲🇾

Whilst it hasn’t been without the odd tantrum, tear and meltdown, these trips have been no more or less prone to this than our short haul trips. 🫠

Top Tips for Long Haul with Kids:

💼 Pack smart: Snacks, extra clothes, wipes, and small toys are lifesavers. A little surprise toy or new book can work wonders when boredom strikes!

💻 Entertainment is key: You can download movies, games, and audiobooks in advance. Remember though that most flights will have amazing seat back entertainment systems.

🎧Headphones are a must. Make sure they are used to them before you go! Get the right fit, the right volume and you will be good to go.

🛌 Have a sleep strategy: Bring travel pillows, blankets, and whatever comfort items help them sleep. If you are on a night flight then it’s sleep time. If you are traveling through the day then be prepared to play games!
When it’s bedtime, change the kids into PJs, when it’s time to get up change back into clothes. 🛌🥱

🚶‍♂️ Move when you can: Stretching and little walks up and down the aisle can help avoid a meltdown. Visit the galley, get a drink and take your time.

🧘 Patience and Understanding: Things will go wrong at some point— most people around you don’t care, most will hardly notice and other may even help you out. You will be stressing about that tantrum more than anyone else.

👵 Strength in numbers: ever noticed they behave better for grandparents than they do for you? Why not bring the grandparents along for that perfect multigenerational long haul trip. (Spot Grampa We Do in this photo 😂)

Ok be honest, who reads all the way to the bottom of our booking emails? 📖

On every email you will find a passage about travel insurance, asking you have this in place. 🙏

Unlike many other Travel Agents, We Do Travel have taken the decision NOT to sell you travel insurance.
Why? Because we believe that we are in the best place to help you with your travel plans and an insurance specialist will help you navigate the minefield that is travel cover. ⁉️

Because insurance is a regulated product we are not allowed to offer advice however there are a few things we ask you to consider based on our experience.

1. Ensure your insurance covers the type of trip you are on as well as the location. Expect premiums for the USA, cruising, winter sports and more. ⛷️ 🚢 🇺🇸

2. Ensure your insurance covers the value of your holiday. Many policies restrict the value they cover, some only insuring the value of £5k (or less). 💷 💰

3. Ensure you read the small print. You may be required to hold a GHIC card or your insurer may not pay out should you end up needing medical treatment. 🪪 🇪🇺

4. Be honest, declare any health issues and update your insurer accordingly 🏥

5. Buy insurance now. This is exceptionally important. Do not wait off until the day before you go. Protect yourself against you being unable to travel by putting insurance in place now. 🚨‼️
