My name is Charlotte and my first ever dance class was a Street class, I was 12 years old.. All of my friends had been dancing since they were very young but I was too busy climbing trees, I was a bit of a tomboy! As you can imagine, I was quite nervous about starting as a complete beginner at 12. After only 2 years of attending my local dance school I secured a place on the Northern Contemporary
CAT programme. I was selected to perform in ‘Excellent’ a Contemporary performance displaying the work of only 10 of the most talented dancers from the North. In 2010 I successfully auditioned for the Northern Contemporary Foundation course in Leeds and trained full time with the company for 1 year, in the same year I was one of four students to be given a guaranteed place without audition for the Northern Contemporary degree programme. I also successfully auditioned London Contemporary and London Studio Centre where I was invited for a further audition for a scholarship, I lived in London for 3 years whilst on the degree course at London Contemporary. I have been lucky to work with many dance companies such as;- Phoenix, 2 Faced Dance Company, Vincent Dance Theatre, Tazaviva Dance Company, Punch Drunk and my most favourites Protein Dance and Mere Theatre Company Physical using site specific works, drama and vocals. I have also worked with some incredible artists;- Douglas Thorpe (Phoenix Dance Theatre, RJC & Mad Dogs Dance Theatre) Dane Hurst (Rambert) and Balbir Singh (Balbir Singh Dance Company). Aside from dance I enjoy traveling exploring music, film, reading, painting and creating things, biking, running, hiking, being with friends and family painting, anything outdoors I dig! My classes at Edge are designed to offer children the opportunity to follow their dreams regardless of age or ability and also a place to enjoy dance and performing with friends.
