Travel in 'Shoulder Season' ✈🧳

Shoulder Season brings the best of both worlds – lesser crowds and milder weather. 🌤️ It's the sweet spot for savvy explorers who love discovering destinations with all the joys of peak season minus the hustle and bustle. Let me offer some suggestions:

🔹Venice - often very crowded in summer, you’ll appreciate its architectural wonders and other charms much better in spring, autumn & winter. The milder temperatures make for much more pleasant sightseeing and the occasional mist or fog makes the city even more atmospheric.

🔹Malta - Fabulous all year round, but in May and September, you can enjoy the fascinating historical sights, lovely beaches, and fantastic food and drink without the crowds.

🔹The Alpes - Blissful walking and hiking trails and scenic railways thread through these peaks in countries, including France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Slovenia. Avoiding busy Summer months, the weather can still be perfect for outdoor activities in May and late September, and in late spring you’ll see Alpine wildflowers and trees blooming, while September brings the grape harvest.

🔹Africa - Many of Africa’s safari hotspots are worth considering in the low (rainy, lusher) ‘green season’ (broadly April to November, but varying a bit by country), rewarding you with more space and better availability, but still ensuring fantastic game viewing in places such as Botswana and Kenya. In Tanzania, you’re also likely to see more lion cubs and other babies during the off-peak months.

🔹Thailand - The off-season months (roughly our summertime) coincide with the rainy season, but the actual weather can vary drastically, and if you’re ready for some relatively short-lived downpours, you can enjoy many of Thailand’s top attractions and beaches in peace. You’ll also enjoy some incredible savings on villas and other accommodation as well.

🔹USA & Canada - November to April in North America is typically chilly and wet, but you can still enjoy all the major cultural venues and attractions in iconic cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Vancouver, and Toronto. And in the depths of winter, many of these destinations are snow-clad and even more enchanting than usual.

🔹Australia - Heading ‘down under’ during the off-season (June to August) can reap rewards in terms of serious savings on flights, accommodation, and activities. The weather is still warm and sunny during these months in many places, including Far North Queensland, tropical home to the Great Barrier Reef and the ancient Daintree Forest with its crocodiles and cassowaries.

Located 59 miles as the crow flies from central Tokyo, this near symmetrical volcano marks the highest point of Japan. It's currently listed as being of low risk eruption and is currently in a dormant state.

Without a doubt, the best views of Mount Fuji are to be bad from the Fuji Five Lakes to the north, however Hakone National Park to the south also offers spectacular views especially in the warmer months when heat haze tends to obscure the mountain.

Measure your hand luggage to ensure it fits the dimensions of the airline you're travelling with.

Yes, I know this sounds obvious, but it's surprising how many people assume that the luggage they used for their last holiday will be fine again, but airlines have different rules when it comes to dimensions so it's very easy to get caught out!

If you're travelling with more than one airline during your travels remember to check ALL of them. The same goes for the weight of your suitcases.

Checking all of these things before you travel will make for an easier transit, and can save you money too 👍

Welcome to and welcome to Lake Tahoe 😍

A stunning freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe straddles the border between California and Nevada. It's pristine waters and epic mountain views and activities make it a wonderful winter destination, and in the Summer it comes alive with hiking, biking, water sports and beach days.

Whatever the season, the Californian side of the lake is great for wine tasting & outdoor activities and the Nevada side offers the glitz & glamour of casinos and nightlife. Or you can experience both, it only takes 3 hours to drive around Lake Tahoe!
