A little update from me!

I am retiring today and wanted to say how grateful I am for your support over these past 8.5 years. Your trust in me and loyalty have been the making of my business, and I am sincerely thankful for your faith in me.

Do not worry about your future travel plans as my business has been taken over by the lovely Dean McMackin Travel Counsellor who has been in travel for 18 years. He has the same attention to detail as me and will continue to look after you in the same way as I have done.

Last day in Whitby. Took a bus to Robin Hoods Bay then walked the 6.5 mile Coastal Path back to Whitby. Glorious weather, great views.

A bit overcast today; Roger was working so I found a lovely cafe, drank tea, read my book, visited the RNLI museum and people watched!! Then walked to one of two now defunct lighthouses and had fabulous fish and chips. Bliss.

Spent the morning in beautiful, hot and sunny Banff enjoying a delicious pot of tea (🤣🤣) on the balcony of our hotel before departing for the airport for our flight home with Air Canada.

Second, and last, day on the Rocky Mountaineer travelling to Banff and our last full day in North America.

We have had such an amazing two weeks and I hope that you have enjoyed seeing an extremely small selection of my photos!

First day on the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Kamloops with the Gold Leaf Service.

Spent the day walking some of the Seaside Greenway and taking in the views of water shimmering in the (rather hot) sun, private yachts and tourist boats sailing in False Creek and generally having a leisurely day - perfect!

We left a very misty Seward by bus and spent a few hours in Anchorage. Had lunch in a great brewery and restaurant before heading to the airport for our flight back to Vancouver over some incredible mountains and glaciers.

Our final full day on board the wonderful . We went to the Hubbard Glacier after sailing along Disenchantment Bay. Wow 😮! What a spectacular natural sight; it’s presence, height and 6 mile length were incredible!

At Icy Strait Point, Hoonah, I went on a whale watching cruise and was lucky enough to see humpback whales 🐋 , orca and porpoises, along with many seals 🦭 and jumping fish! Then a seafood feast with Dungeness crab 🦀 , king prawns 🍤 and mussels - delicious!

Another great day, today we were in Skagway and took the White Pass and Yukon Route (WPYR) Scenic Railroad which started in 1898 as a result of the Klondike Gold Rush.

We reached White Pass Summit at an elevation of just under 3,000 feet and crossed the US/Canadian border (see the flags).

My final photo was taken at 22:45 - it is still not dark!

Wow! What a truly beautiful day. We kayaked today by the incredible Mendenhall Glacier, saw and got close to two bald eagles, kayaked alongside jumping salmon and seals. The experience of today will stay with me forever! The beauty of the landscape, the clear blue skies and clean air were what I had expected of Alaska, and I wasn’t disappointed!!

Now onboard Regent Seven Seas Explorer, our cruise ship for the next 7 nights. What a wonderful ship, exceptionally friendly staff, fabulous facilities and amazing food. What’s not to like?!!

This amazing clock, which was built in 1977 at a cost of $40,000, is in the Victorian Gastown district of Vancouver is powered by steam.

Such an amazing sight and great to watch.

Arrived in Vancouver late yesterday afternoon - we walked miles when we arrived and we already love it!!

Wonderful weekend in London and a great Sunday lunch at HMP Brixton. The menu was superb and brilliantly prepared by the inmates.

If you get the opportunity, you really should go. They do lunch from Monday to Thursday and supper on Thursday evening too!

The ‘chaps’ are working towards their NVQ’s in Food & Beverage Service, Professional Cookery and Food Hygiene; such a worthy cause.

Fabulous night at the Garrick Theatre watching the final night of Suzy Eddie Izzard’s interpretation of Great Expectations, in which he played every character!!

Watching with an old school friend who flew over from Guernsey for the show and two of our lovely neighbours.

Such a great time away driving a Morgan around Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, thanks to a wonderful Christmas present from our lovely sons.

Wonderful hospitality from Keith and Lisa and incredible food too!

Also stopped off at Snowshill Manor, a National Trust property, once owned by Charles Wade.
