*Message from Wylam Rockets Football Club Committee*

Our club is run on the great efforts of volunteers who take on roles like team coaches, parent helpers and committee members. Over the last 21 years many individuals from within our community have supported the club to provide fun grassroots football for children and young people in the Wylam and Tyne Valley area. We hope to be able to continue doing this for many years to come.

The purpose of this message is to now ask for your help as we need new volunteers to step into the crucial role of Treasurer for next season 24/25.

If you or any one you know can offer your time and are interested to know more we would really appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you Sean Hamilton

The club would like to say a huge thank you to Sean Hamilton and wish him well as he finally retires from the Rockets.

Most of you will not know Sean, he was one of the parents who started girls’ football in Wylam back in 2008 along with Tony Wynne and Bob Spragg. Since then, girls’ football at Wylam Rockets has gone from strength to strength, giving hundreds of girls in the local area the opportunity to play football and do regular competitive sport.
In 2012, Sean started cutting the grass on the Wylam Jubilee Field. After Sean’s team finished playing in 2017, Sean continued cutting the grass, often on a weekly basis, as well as doing the job of marking out the pitch at the start of each season. These jobs behind the scenes, which often go unnoticed, are carried out by dedicated volunteers, year in year out, and are essential for the successful running of the club. Sean has gone above and beyond, so that our children can enjoy the wonderful resource at the centre of the village. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Sean for making such a massive contribution to the club and the wider community.

We are an upper league standard squad, part of a very friendly, small, family orientated club with exceptionally low subs. Playing kit is supplied and subsidised accessories are available from our team shop. Wylam is a lovely village location only 20 mins by car from the centre of Newcastle. Winter training is at Prudhoe High School.

Please come and meet us...
Wednesdays 8th and 15th June 6 -7pm Wylam Jubilee Field. Free parking at the war memorial car park, entrance to the field is opposite the Fox and Hounds pub.

We have AMAZING coaches at Wylam Rockets. They are all volunteers with families and jobs but still give a huge amount of time and energy so our children have the best possible football experience.

But it's always nice to receive feedback, such as this from Northumberland FA...

On the weekend of 19th/20th March, we conducted a matchday safeguarding review across several venues. During our visit, we spoke with Darren of the Rockettes Ravens Under 11s and with Sam and Colin from the Under 8 Girls Falcons teams.

I am writing to commend all 3 coaches, each of whom displayed positivity and encouragement in their coaching style and were very much reflective of our 100% Positive campaign. In addition to this, all of their qualifications are in date and we were pleased to see both teams had their first aid kits with them.

From what we saw, all 3 coaches are a credit to your club and I would be grateful if you could share this feedback with each of them.

Huge congratulations to our amazing U11s. They won a merit award for youth team of the year at last night’s Sport Tynedale awards. There were only 2 teams shortlisted which is amazing when you think about how many youth teams there are out there.

And a very well done to coach Darren Richmond and to all the helpers and parents. Success in grassroots football is the result of so much hard work and comes in so many different forms and it's lovely when it's recognised.

The U11s big achievement is taking themselves from the bottom tier of the Northumberland League at startup last year to the champions league (top division) within a year, incredible!! In the bottom tier they were undefeated, in the middle tier they won all but 1 of their matches and now they are embarking on the top division. They remain in the league cup and if they win this Saturday against probably the best team in the league, they’ll reach the semi-final. Again, incredible for such a newly formed team. Superstars they really are!

We are delighted to announce the opening of our new "shop" with Salto UK Ltd. for our non-playing kit items. We are very pleased to be supporting a local company where our families can easily visit to view items, check sizing and avoid delivery charges. With sustainability in mind, we have decided to remove the option to have players' initials on hoodies, so items can be passed down. The club is also subsidising key items and we plan to add further items to the range in the near future. The reduced prices online indicate what items are subsidised. Please note that all orders must be placed through the website and the deadline for Christmas is Friday 3rd December.
