🗓️ In August, we spent an unforgettable day exploring the bewitching village of Èze, and I’m still in awe!

🌸 My personal highlight? The Jardin Exotique, where nature and art blend perfectly. The air is filled with lavender and perfume from the nearby Fragonard perfumery—truly an experience for the senses. From the garden’s terrace, you can soak in panoramic views that stretch from Italy to Saint-Tropez.

📷 Tips for Avoiding Crowds: As Èze’s charm has made it a popular destination, it can get busy, especially in peak season. To enjoy the village without the crowds, plan your visit in the early morning or late afternoon, when the streets are quieter, and the light is perfect for photographs. If you’re visiting during summer, like we did, try midweek. Exploring off-season is another fantastic way to experience Èze’s beauty in a more tranquil setting.

👟 Travel Tip: Èze is full of steep, narrow pathways—comfortable shoes will save your feet!

🎤 Fun fact: Bono, the lead singer of U2, owns a stunning pink villa in Èze-sur-Mer!

🏨 My one regret? Now that I’ve seen the legendary Golden Goat Hotel, I wish I’d added a stay there to my South of France adventure.

🍽️ For a dining experience with a view, I highly recommend lunch on the terrace of Les Remparts Restaurant at the 5-star Chèvre d’Or Hotel. This luxurious spot was once a favourite of Walt Disney. With sweeping views of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and the sun-dappled sea, I was able to sit back, breathe in the scent of jasmine, and enjoy the joie de vivre of the French Riviera, just as Marlene Dietrich, Roger Moore, and so many others have done before me. Pro tip: Book ahead!

🌅 Castle Hill (Colline du Château) – Best Views in Nice-For the most breath-taking panoramic views, hike up to Castle Hill. The old castle may be gone, but the views of the city, the harbour, and the deep blue Mediterranean from the park are unforgettable.

While the beaches in Nice are mostly pebbled, they offer a chance to cool off in the Mediterranean’s crystal-clear waters. Opt for a luxurious private beach club for a day of pampering, or embrace the laid-back atmosphere of Nice’s public beaches. 🌊☀️

✨ Cannes: A Sophisticated Traveller’s Haven on the French Riviera ✨

Just returned from Cannes, and let me tell you, this glamorous town has so much more to offer than just its famous film festival! 😍 A perfect mix of luxury, history, and laid-back Mediterranean vibes.

🌴 First stop: La Croisette! This stunning palm-lined promenade is home to luxury hotels like the InterContinental Carlton and some of the world’s top designer boutiques.

🏰 For history lovers, Le Suquet, the old town, is a must. Wander through charming narrow streets and make your way to the top for breathtaking views and a visit to the 16th-century Eglise Notre-Dame d’Espérance. The Old Town is perfect for discovering cute cafés, local artisan shops, and hidden boutiques.

🏖 No visit to Cannes is complete without a beach day! Plage du Martinez is the spot for an exclusive experience with plush sunbeds and parasols.

🍴 For dinner, we hit up Le Maschou in Le Suquet, and WOW—the rustic Provençal flavors and fresh seafood made it the perfect way to wrap up the day.

🌿 If you’ve got time, take a short ferry to the Lérins Islands. We visited Île Sainte-Marguerite, famous for the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask. The island is a peaceful retreat with scenic walking trails and secluded beaches.

🍽 On our last day, we indulged at the Michelin-starred La Palme d’Or at Hotel Martinez. The food? Absolutely spectacular. Every dish was a work of art! 🎨

🇪🇺 A very Important Update for UK Travellers: ETIAS Visa Waiver Coming in 2025!

🛂 Starting in early 2025, UK travellers will need to apply for the ETIAS visa waiver when visiting the Schengen Area in Europe, which includes 34 countries.

Cost and Validity: The ETIAS will cost €7 for those aged 18 to 70 and will be valid for three years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. It will be free for children under 18 and seniors over 70.

Application Process: The application can be completed online via the official ETIAS website or through a mobile app. The process is straightforward, with most applications being approved within minutes. However, in some cases, it may take up to 96 hours, and in rare instances, an interview with national authorities might be required, extending the process by up to 30 days. It’s advised to apply well in advance of your travel to avoid any complications.

Travel Restrictions: The ETIAS will allow short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, suitable for tourism, business, or family visits. However, it doesn’t cover long-term stays, study, or work.

Link to Passport: The ETIAS is electronically linked to your passport, meaning you’ll need to reapply if your passport expires before the three-year validity period.

Excited to have just booked a city break to Rome for a family of four!. I’m sure this trip will be a memorable adventure for them. Here are some tailored tips to enhance their experience.

1. Plan for Peak Season Crowds- To avoid the worst of the crowds, consider visiting major attractions like the Colosseum and Vatican Museums early in the morning or late in the afternoon. (Alternatively, visiting in the shoulder seasons -spring and autumn- offers more pleasant weather and fewer tourists.)

2. Pre-Book Tickets for Major Attractions- it’s advisable to book tickets to popular sites like the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, and Sistine Chapel in advance.

3. Explore Beyond the Tourist Hotspots-don’t miss exploring Rome’s lesser-known neighborhoods such as Trastevere or Testaccio. These areas offer a more authentic Roman experience with charming streets, local markets, and less crowded eateries.

4. Dress Appropriately for Religious Sites- when visiting churches and religious sites, including St. Peter’s Basilica, ensure you dress modestly. Shoulders and knees should be covered as a sign of respect.

5. Take Advantage of Public Transport- Rome’s public transport network, including buses, trams, and the metro, is efficient and affordable. A Roma Pass offers unlimited travel on public transport for a set period and also includes entry to several museums and attractions. However, be cautious of pickpockets, especially in crowded areas.

6. Be Prepared for Cobblestone Streets- Rome’s historic streets are often paved with cobblestones, which can be challenging to walk on, especially in heels or sandals. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and be mindful of uneven surfaces.

🏔️ These days, I am working from Romania. 🇷🇴 I brought my daughters with me to spend time with family and to experience how I grew up—playing on the streets, with no need to organise playdates, surrounded by the beautiful mountains 🏞️ and gorgeous scenery of my hometown. Did you know that the beauty of my mountains enthralled King Charles III so much that he bought properties in the Transylvanian region? 🏰

Beyond their natural beauty, the Romanian mountains are rich in cultural heritage. The fortified churches of Transylvania ⛪, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites, dot the landscape. These medieval structures, built by the Saxons, stand as testaments to the region’s historical turbulence and architectural ingenuity.

Flora and fauna enthusiasts will be delighted by the biodiversity within these mountains. The Carpathians are home to some of Europe’s largest populations of brown bears 🐻, wolves 🐺, and lynxes. Meanwhile, the meadows and forests are alive with a variety of plant species 🌸, some endemic to the region.
