It is with regret and in the interests of the safety of all our supporters that today’s concert “Sing at Christmas” has been cancelled.

06/12/2024

Due to Storm Darragh and the severe weather warning issued, we apologise that the zoo will not be open tomorrow (Saturday 7 December).

If you have pre-booked tickets to visit us, or for our Christmas at the Zoo event, you will shortly receive an email from us with all of the details you need to know, including the option to switch to another date if you choose.

We understand that this will be disappointing for those having to cancel their plans. However, our priority is to make sure everyone stays safe, including our animals.

As things stand, we are optimistic that we will be open as usual on Sunday 8 December, but please do check our website and social media for updates.

Thank you for your understanding.

Great explanation of the Red Alert we have received in Torbay.

Great explanation of the Red Alert we have received in Torbay.

WHY THE RED ALERT GOVERNMENT WARNING.

Evening people,

It seems some are very confused as to why you've received the red alert government's warning.

Firstly, the red warning has not been extended to all of the southwest.

It is still only covering the north coast of Devon up through into Somerset.

The reason you've all received this alert is because you live within the southwest region.

The government alerts are issued to each region where there is a red weather warning and will be issued a few hours before it comes into force.

As they cannot pin point where you are within the southwest or south coast or Wales and so on, they send it to all mobile devices so everyone is made aware.

I hope this has explained why your mobile freaked you all out, making you jump and hope it stops comments being posted to tue Amber and Red warnings about it.

Kind regards

Dean

We say if you don't have to go out then don't....

⚠️ Devon’s motorists are being urged to drive carefully this weekend as the county braces for high winds and rain from Storm Darragh.

A series of weather warnings have been in put place by the Met Office including;
🔴 Red Weather Warning for Wind for parts of the North Devon Coastline, from 3am to 11am tomorrow morning, Saturday 7 December - gusts could reach 90mph.
🟠 Amber Weather Warning for Wind from 1am Saturday 7 December morning to 9pm Saturday evening across Devon.
🟡Yellow Weather Warning for Wind from 3pm today, Friday 6 December to 6am Sunday 8 December across Devon.

As a precaution the A361 Taw Bridge at Barnstaple and A39 Torridge Bridge at Bideford will be closed from midnight in advance of the weather warnings. Additionally all of Devon’s Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on Saturday.

Wind and rain may cause disruption to travel, with difficult driving conditions likely. The Met Offices advises that the public should avoid travelling in an area where a Red Weather warning is in place where possible.

These warning could change at any time so please stay up to date by following the Met Office and Devon Alert.
