Martin has been hard at work, installing a new bilge pump recently for a customer, the customer came to us worried because the pump they had installed was not working and they had a bit of a leak from the stern gear, the following day we attended and installed the new pump, tested it, showed the customer and emptied the water in the bilge.

Another happy customer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Although we can’t move any boats at the moment we can still undertake some other jobs to keep us going, we also provide engineering and general boat maintenance.

This is our next task, remove, re-seal and refit 12 windows, as you can see from the photos this boat has developed a few issues as the seal has cracked and in some places is even see through.

Last year we were asked to move NB KYMM - we posted further updates as to why we cancelled the job and deemed the boat unsafe…

Another boat mover, who we won’t name decided to take this job on himself without proper checks… turns out while cruising the head gasket blew and even then this boat mover continued to cruise the boat, this can cause further damage including a warped head, damage to the bores and piston rings along with others…

Another reason to always read the facts and not take chances….

Sorry for no updates over the last week... we have been rather busy! Skipper Jack was dispatched to a job last week however it became apparent the owner's partner had arranged someone else to move the boat, not to worry... it happens.

Over the next few days Jack & a new crew member will be heading out to collect two work boats, we will keep you updated with photos on the way.

Recently Jack who is one of our contract skippers moved a boat on behalf of Moves Afloat.

We handled the booking process and dispatched Jack to a very cold icy canal… within a few days the boat reached its destination.

Another positive result for Moves Afloat and the team - we will never be beaten down.

It’s a cold start for Skipper Jack this morning, moving this Boat from Scarisbrick to Tattenhall.

He woke up to -4° and is well and truly layered up for this journey. Note the cup of tea, a much needed thing for this time of year.

24/11/2023

We take regular checks to ensure a boat is safe enough to carry out the journey, this includes basic engine checks before setting off.

In the event that we feel something is wrong, we will stop, investigate and decide if it’s safe or not to continue.

We do this to ensure boats don’t get broken…

We moved a boat a few weeks ago, had issues and recommended an engineer to look at it ASAP, another boat mover took over the job thinking that we where wrong and low and behold, it broke and this time really broke.

Damaged ego for the boat mover and even more upset for the boat owner who failed to listen to our advice.

If we say it’s broke, then it’s broke.

Public Notice: It has come to the attention of Moves Afloat & Waterborne Group that a recent customer of ours *Victoria* has taken to Facebook in an attempt to defaminate our business.

We are currently working with this customer to provide a refund for the move, here is the true reasons why the job was cancelled.

1. The closure of the Napton Flight would have prevented us being able to finish the move.

2. The boat was deemed unsafe and unfit for purpose

3. The boat was left secure however locking the boat was impossible, the front door sticks and doesn't close properly and the rear door does not have a key to lock.

4. The boat had no interior lighting or headlight

5. The stove was in a bad condition and was deemed unsafe.

6. Their was not sufficient fuel for the move, as stated and agreed by the customer in our Terms & Conditions.

We could go on... our team lost out on £115 two nights in a row for overnight stops in a hotel due to the unsafe conditions of the boat.

We came to the conclusion to terminate our contract with the customer until works had been done on the boat and it had been deemed fit, then we would have happily returned to complete the move.

-

Unfortunately when it comes to boat moving it's not all easy, this year we have moved nearly 100 boats and I think having just a few that have not gone right is rather good going.

Read what you see online very carefully, people over dramatise things to make it seem worse than what it is, and remember in this case, they are not to blame... clearly.

-

We are not under any investigation from the Police, we have been in touch with them, this is an unfounded remark from two other boat movers who are doing what they can to destroy Moves Afloat, this matter is in hand and court proceedings to begin shortly.

Please find photos of said boat move, and make your own mind up.

We are nearly finished for the year, we have a few small jobs to finish.

We have had an interesting year and have unfortunately been at the face of business bullying and fake reviews along with false comments that have been made about us.

Next year we will be back at full strength and have already got bookings lined up, we will never be bullied by anyone.

We have made some major changes over the last few weeks to ensure that some of the mistakes made this year do not happen next year.
