Mario’s City Strolls of London City Guides - so proud to have received the Freedom of the City of London from the wonderful Minerva MillerClerk of the Chamberlain’s Court - both of us “minted” Londoners. Wonderful to join a long list of Freemen going back to Medieval times with close friends, colleagues and my amazing family present. I celebrated into the late afternoon, drunk and disorderly without fear of arrest. However I do not intend to go about the City with a drawn sword or be hung by a silken rope. I may drive some sheep across London Bridge next year. What a great day. I look fwd to giving something back to this great City.

Whilst waiting for guests reads that Shrek was actually based off of a real person named Maurice Tillet. He was a French wrestler who married an beautiful woman named Olga.

Maurice Tillet was a French professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, The French Angel. Tillet was a leading box office draw in the early 1940s and was twice World Heavyweight Champion by the American Wrestling Association run by Paul Bowser in Boston.

Very pleased to confirm my position as Chair of the CLGLA was confirmed on 1st July. It will be a privilege to chair www.cityoflondonguides.com London City Guides - a 40 year old association serving and supporting the Official Guides to the City of London. All City Guides are fully trained, qualified, accredited, insured freelancers who develop and lead walks in the City and lecture on City related topics. The Association's guides provide guided tours of the City almost every day of the year, including tours specifically commissioned by the City Corporation, including unique tours of Billingsgate Roman House and Baths tours of the Old Bailey Central Criminal Court Leadenhall Market and other themed walks supported by either local organisations or the Business Improvement Districts. Additionally the association supports the Lord Mayors show every year with a series of walks in the City of London, and the Lady Mayoress is our patron. The Association provides a high standard in The City of London and is Travellers' Choice Winner on Tripadvisor for 2023 and 2024. Looking forward to following in the footsteps of Louise Grainger who has laid the healthiest of foundations as my predecessor as well as working with our fantastic members and Committee! Mario's City Strolls pleased to support Holy Sephulcre Church London the beautiful Wren Musicians church at its Musicali Tea event recently with a talk on Leadenhall Market Congrats to the team at Holy Sephulcre for providing the warmest and most welcoming space for weekly events going forward until March under the watchful eye of Dame Nellie Melba (Aussie opera singer, inspiration for Peach Melba and Melba toast) and Henry Wood of Proms fame.
