Sabi Sands Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger South Africa is especially renowned for its leopard sightings. The reserve is considered one of the last true havens for leopards in the world ... we promise you, there is nothing quite like seeing this magnificent wild cat up close and personal in their natural habitat.

Here are a few leopard facts:

🐆 Leopards are the smallest of the big cats
🐆 They are solitary animals
🐆 Leopard spots are called rosettes
🐆 They like to spend time in trees
🐆They can carry prey twice their body weight up into trees
🐆 A female typically gives birth to 2-4 cubs, but can be as many as 6 in rare instances
🐆 Their gestation period is 90-100 days
🐆 They have 5 toes on the front paws and only 4 on the back
🐆 They are excellent swimmers and can run up to 60km per hour!
🐆 They are carnivores and eat almost anything!

Those polled rated the cities on food and drink; accommodation; cultural and tourist attractions; shopping; ease of getting around; lack of crowds; and value for money.

🍷Best-rated Cape Town gets an impressive score of 91 per cent, with Which? saying: 'The city was a particular hit with foodies, receiving a five-star rating in the food and drink category, and also received five stars for shopping and overall value for money.'

🍲One visitor to the South African city tells Which?: 'I was amazed by the low cost of eating out in Cape Town versus London or New York. The food was exceptional.' Another tourist says: 'There are so many amazing things to do in Cape Town at such a very reasonable cost… it is a wonderful place to visit.'

🐧Cape Town also picks up four stars for accommodation and cultural sights and attractions. 'The proximity of nature was particularly valued by respondents, who highlighted the spectacular scenery at the famous Table Mountain and penguins on Boulders Beach as high points,' adds Which?

Happy Monday friends....

As you navigate the pre-festive madness, a reminder for you today of a more tranquil place ... called the African bushveld, where the only traffic jams are perhaps waiting for a herd of elephants to pass!

This morning's footage of a pack of wild dogs is super special, as these have been on the endangered list since the early 90's. Sightings are still being reported though, especially when booking with reputable guides. Here are a few quick facts

🐾Social
Wild dogs, also known as the painted dog, are social pack animals that live in groups of 6 to 30 members. They have a strict hierarchy, with an alpha breeding pair that rules over the other dogs.

🐾Hunting
Wild dogs are excellent hunters with a high success rate. They can chase prey for up to an hour and share the kill through begging.

🐾Democratic
Wild dogs make democratic decisions about whether to hunt by voting with sneezes. Once a certain number of sneezes are reached, the pack acts on the results.

🐾Camouflage
Wild dogs have distinctive color patterns that help them camouflage in the grasslands, woodlands, and savannahs where they live.

🐾Lifespan
In the wild, African wild dogs typically live to be 10 to 12 years old.

Lions have a large repertoire of calls. They grunt, growl, moan, hiss and snarl - but of course the most famous call of all is their roar. It’s often called the sound of Africa!

Interestingly, the structure of their voice box which enables them to roar means they cannot purr. This distinguishes them as one of the ‘great cats’, alongside tigers, leopards and jaguars, while smaller big cats like cheetahs can purr but cannot roar.

To experience a lion roar on safari in their natural habitat, is an experience like no other.
