Even before finishing his studies as a political science major, he founded Native Trails to offer tours to Mexico’s Copper Canyon. For nearly a quarter of a century since, the company has gone from strength to strength gaining a reputation for offering excellent service and authentic experiences throughout Mexico. Not resting on their laurels, every year Olaf counts himself lucky to spend several months as a Native Trails’ scout, checking existing services and seeking out new hotels, restaurants and fascinating experiences alongside other members of the team. Recent highlights include spending time with chilli farmers in Dzemul, Yucatan, and hiking trails within the spectacular jungle region of Lacandon. When not exploring he can be found at his desk amongst the Native Trails product and sales teams as they customise and “handcraft” itineraries for their clients.
