I’m just sat here quietly - I’m enjoying a nice cup of tea 🫖 ….

At home, I do love the calm of the start of another new day, it’s amazing how much work I can get done before 9am when I am in my office 🌅💻…

But here, I’m just trying to savour the soothing sounds of the water on this beautiful day 🌞

Social media is an odd thing & something I’m not 100% comfortable with ..
(…anyone who really knows me, knows this. )
Pausing to think about how I am feeling;
Feeling very blessed to be sat here, & wishing that every lovely customer of mine could come here & feel the same peace & tranquility. There are many of my customers names coming into my mind, who I am thinking, ‘my goodness, they’d love this’

This afternoon, I met up with the hotel’s general manager, which I found extremely interesting…

He was very proud to tell me how busy the hotel is… they are working on 99% occupancy at the moment… not surprisingly, The Maldives is experiencing the same ‘boom’ in travel as is mirrored with what I am experiencing too back in my office at home.

The island is 100% self-sufficient in producing its own electricity and drinking water.
He was also very proud to show me the hotel’s gardens where they grow a variety of fruit and vegetables… especially bananas!

I looked at the various room types… which is all excellent extra information for me to bring back home to the office with me.

The hotel and island have been on quite a journey…
Apparently it first opened to guests in 1979, with a grand total of 16 rooms… accommodating 32 people .
It now accommodates over 400 guests, which is mirrored by the same number of staff (who mostly live on the island too.)
These numbers are all rather difficult to take in…..as you wander around the beaches you feel that there are very few people here.
For a Maldivian island there is a lot of space here, and therefore it has additional facilities that are not typically found …

He was also keen to show off the children’s club, the 24 hour bar, the lounges, swimming pool, gym, as well as five restaurants… including an amazing Indian restaurant where we finished off our meeting.

I know that I am enjoying a personal holiday, and I am a paying guest, but very often it is advantageous to mix work with pleasure🤿🏝️🍹 ⛱️🦈🐠

You are never too old to follow your dreams 🚂💨

My 89-year-old customer has just returned from an amazing holiday spent in Canada…

He travelled to the fabulous ‘Rockies’ and western side of the country, and his highlight was travelling on the majestic and once-in-a-lifetime ‘Rocky Mountaineer’ train from Banff to Vancouver …

From here, he finished off his trip by sampling whale watching over on Vancouver Island…

Spending afew days here in the magical Maldives.
I am feeling very blessed to be back here.
My last visit was almost exactly 30 years ago ....

I am here celebrating my silver wedding anniversary… and just thinking about how quickly it feels to me, like the time has flown by….

Delighted to tell you that the marine-life when we went snorkelling this morning was just as amazing as my vivid memories from that first trip.
Returning anywhere that held a magic for you the first time, is always perhaps risky business
….🙈😬

But today, not even needing to snorkel out of our depths, we saw a different world of wonderful tropical fish 🤿🤿
Beautiful, colourful, & graceful - and of all shapes and sizes; many swimming in large shoals.
🐟🐡🐠🐠🐠

The Maldives is highly recommended for that special occasion, or for guaranteed peace & relaxation. Even a few days stay is definitely worth while; it could be combined with a trip to Sri Lanka, or a Middle Eastern city such as Dubai or Doha 🇶🇦🕌🏺🐫

Let’s talk winter breaks…☀️☀️☀️

We are now heading into what the travel trade term as winter!
(Fairly obvious statement ..but there you go !🙈😂)

Customers asking me for “winter sunshine” is now one of my most talked about phone conversations of the moment !
