Nothing like getting back to the aparment after a lovely walk and settling down with a cuppa and a piece of Grasmere Gingerbread. We like to warm it up for five minutes in the oven to soften the chewy layer and really bring out the delicious ginger flavour. Yum! The shop is in the village by the church, just a 5-10 minute walk from Silver Fell.

HAVE YOU EVER.....Had a piece of GRASMERE GINGERBREAD before???

Imagine breakfast with this view! The last flourish of winter has created some very pretty scenery today, but we'll have to wait to get the spring planting done! We got a few photos from the inside this morning so you can get an idea of the panoramic views you can enjoy at Silver Fell.

Couldn't resist sharing this!

You can almost hear its quiet little snores… 🐭 😴 This dormouse doing what dormice do in winter – sleeping. Ranger Jamie went out with the Back On Our Map team this week to check dormouse boxes.

The reintroduction of endangered hazel dormice to an ancient woodland in Arnside and Silverdale aims to create a bigger and better-connected population in the north-west of England. Together we can bring hazel dormice back from the brink.

The low level walks provide lots of opportunity to admire the flora, whether that's the abundance of wildflowers or the stunning star shaped moss. Add in a view of Hellvellyn in the background and you've got yourself a lovely relaxing walk.

Thirlmere again, a lovely low-level walk through dappled woodland with the sound of the water tumbling over rocks - just beautiful!

We're sharing some photos from a lovely walk around the bottom of Thirlmere this week. These were taken a few weeks ago when water levels were quite low. It's a ten minute drive from Silver Fell, or a couple of hours for keen walkers.

Our second stay here at this idylic place. The view of the lake is picture perfect from the living room and the small outdoor decking area. It is a short walk into Grasmere and away from the main tourist area. The amenities at Silverfell mean you dont need to bring anything with you other than cloth...

We've been busy getting Silver Fell ready for the season ahead, checking everything is working fine, giving the place a good deep spring clean and replacing any old or worn out items. The larger bedroom has brand new mattresses and we're just waiting for a new light fitting to be installed in the lounge.

It's obvious people are feeling more confident about booking holidays now - we took four bookings on Monday this week, so if you are thinking about staying at Silver Fell, then don't put it off much longer! (September to mid October is now full).
