Weekend Wanderlust

Need a weekend break? Why not hop on the train or take a short flight to Paris - in no time you'll be people watching from a cafe and soaking in all the sights that Paris has to offer. Last time we were there we averaged around 15000 steps a day and honestly it didn't feel like it - there was so much to see and I kept wondering what was round the next corner.

I loved the Marais and this would be a perfect bolthole.

What a crazy week

I know I've been pretty quiet on here but I've had my head down in enquiries

I actual got a little emotional about on of the enquiries - a lovely lady who wanted to take her mum and dad away to Italy - the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento. I normally have a front runner but this time round I found it really difficult to choose.

The following properties made the short list - one with great sea views, one with a citrus grove, one with a great rooftop pool with amazing views and the other a family residence that has been transformed into a fabulous boutique hotel. Which one would you choose?

Experiences in the itinerary include a walking and street food tour of Sorrento, a trip to the island of Ischia and a tour of Positano, Amalfi and Ravello.

I love this itinerary - I was chatting to a client the other day and she was saying one of her best holidays was her trip to South Africa - the scenery, the people, the food and the wildlife - what's not to love.

It's the little things

First impressions do count and often it's the little things. One thing I loved about the Moracea in Khao Lak Thailand is that they had two sets of different coloured towels - one set of black and one set of white - genius - no more worrying about getting the towels mixed up.

It's funny how the little memories keep popping up!

For when you don't want a cookie cutter holiday

Sometimes all you need is a quick break away somewhere to get some sun but it's true what they say - one size does not fit all!

Perhaps you really want to have an amazing kids club, walking distance to shops and restaurants, space to spread about, a golf course on your doorstep, Michelin star restaurants or a lagoon style pool. Or you might even be planning a multi centre trip covering different countries with car hire and excursions all booked up before you go.

The Notary in Bruges - an urban oasis

I think I may have mentioned it but my weakness is chocolate and since trying to cut down on sugar I've taken a real liking to dark chocolate - as my mother would have said 'it tastes my mouth' (don't you just love sayings that somehow don't make any sense but at the same time do).

Anyway, I digress. One of the places I love is Bruges - I lived in Brussels for a while and would sometimes visit at the weekends - I have to admit I did buy quite a bit of chocolate.

Bruges is a place that lives and breathes history and is one of Europe’s best-preserved cities. This is evidenced by its historic city centre, the entirety of which has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site. The iconic spires of its cathedral and bell tower, its cobbled streets, winding canals and whitewashed façades are almost painfully picturesque. Not to mention the famous lace and the culinary culture. You can also visit a craft beer brewery if you're feeling a little thirsty.

You'll be spoilt for choice with places to stay but I love The Notary - with its Library, lounges, private dining room, canal access (with private boat), gardens, sauna, outdoor whirlpool bath you'll feel as as though you've escaped the hustle and bustle.

In rooms are equally impressive - no two rooms are the same but all come with a Sonos sound-system, smart TV, iPad, gourmet minibar, tea-making kit, Nespresso coffee machine, and Atelier Rebul bath products.

I have a lovely client who will be embarking on an Australian trip to see family in April - what a trip it will be. I love a reunion!

It got me thinking about such a wonderful country it is - I've been about 5 times and I still feel as though I've only scratched the surface. I love this itinerary though and perfect for first time trip. Sydney has to be one of my favourite places - the city is itself is such fun but I loved jumping on a boat and exploring the suburbs. Next time I am definitely going to climb the bridge!
