We've moved!

From 2025, Frost Guiding clients will benefit from newly refurbished accommodation just minutes walk from the center of Evolene village. This traditional building offers a selection of twin, single and double bedrooms with new kitchens, solar panels, spacious garden, garage and private parking.

Our independent accommodation continues to offer maximum flexibility for our mountaineering itineraries.

A week of ski touring in the Valais. Using Evolene as a base, we'll warm up on a local day tour before heading to a hut to explore further afield in the Valais.

I'm back in Switzerland now preparing for the start of the Summer Alpine season. It looks like being a snowy start to the season so hopefully good conditions on the classic routes.

2 articles in the news today about the accelerating rate of glacier melt in the Alps. 10% of volume lost in the last 2 years in Switzerland.
People often ask me if I've seen a change since moving to Switzerland - it's changing so fast you can see the difference monthly!

The Mont Collon serac...
In 2004 (?) I climbed the Hopkinson Spur direct with Adam. The AC guidebook mentioned traversing the hanging glacier at mid-height to avoid a section of ridge but this had already shrunk back so far we couldn't reach it and stayed on the rock instead. Perhaps in 5 years it will be gone completely.

Good article on train travel. This guy went to Verbier but there are good train and bus links to all of the Valais ski areas. And of course we will refund £100 to our clients who book a week with us and travel by train, bus or car share (terms and conditions on the website or ask us for more details)
