From guarding the town from attack by sea to becoming a temporary mortuary and even a prison - God's House Tower - or GHT for short - has had many uses over the years, making it a fascinating part of Southampton's history. Today, GHT stands as a modern arts and heritage venue with a rich programme of events and art exhibitions managed by ‘a space’ arts.
We recently caught up with Hannah, the Venue Manager at God's House Tower, to dive in deeper into the venue's history and latest exhibitions.
Currently exhibiting at GHT until Sunday 27th October are:
🌈 Southampton's Queer Stories: Celebrate pivotal moments in Southampton’s LGBTQIA+ history from the 1970s onwards, featuring extracts from newspapers, video clips of local news reports, personal stories and more
🎶 Everyone Involved by Ian Giles: Experience an immersive installation, including the re-recording of the first LGBTQIA+ protest song from 1972.

Calling all fun seekers - are you looking for a special date night activity or a fun experience to have with the whole family? We recently met with Emily, the Venue Manager at High Score Arcades Southampton to talk all things gaming! 🎮🕹️ If you haven't been, you're in for a real treat - they are a free-play amusement centre on East Street that offers an affordable way to enjoy a range of arcade classics. 👾 From your classics like PONG and Street Fighter to Mario Kart and Daytona racing games, there is plenty to try when you enter the gaming floor. 🏎️🏁 Your ticket gives you access to unlimited plays of all their games in a 60 minute session. 🎟️
High Score regularly swaps out their games too so there is always something different to try. Keep a look out for their staff challenges to see if you can beat the high scores set by their team to win some amazing prizes during special events held throughout the year.
SEN Sessions are also available once a month where the capacity is reduced, the noise turned down, and the lights stay on, offering a quiet gaming experience for everyone to enjoy.
