SUPERSTOX HOOSIER RACING TYRE SERIES ROUND

Am doing this meeting PREVIEW in memory to my late FATHER RONALD STANLEY YATES who would have been 76 today. Criminally he was taken away from me and my family 23 years ago. One of my Fathers favourite formulas to watch were the Superstox who will be racing this Saturday up at the Great Yarmouth Stadium with the meeting due to start there at 5 pm. On the night our drivers in the NOVICE grades will be racing for race tyres as prizes via the genorosity of our long term sponsors HOOSIER TYRES. The NOVICE drivers will be lined up at the front of the grid in all of tonights races with WHITE and YELLOW roofs on their race cars. Each race will carry POINTS with the TOP POINTS scoring driver from the evening in those races and grades going home with the b***y. Once again many thanks go to HOOSIER on their continued sponsorship to our class and LONG may it stay that way.

At the moment we have 14 drivers listed to compete and these are they :

SADLY this STATTO/SADDO wont be present at this meeting as he will be down the road at Ipswich for their GALA night. Could only obtain a lift to that one and many thanks go to ADAM KELLY who is taking me to that. Thats going to be good just like this meeting. Am relying on GRAHAM UTTINGS assistance at Yarmouth who I hope can send me through those RESULTS on the night so that I can post up on here on return from Ipswich.

Alongside us at this meeting are a staggering 86 BANGERS for whom it is "BACK TO BASICS" car specification this evening and we have one of those legendary SPEDEWORTH FIREWORKS DISPLAYS which will take place at some point during the proceedings. SUPERSTOX 2024 SOUITHERN CHAMPIONSHIP plus SUPERSTOX HOOSIER RACING TYRE SERIES ROUND

THE SOUTHERN SKOYLES GO WEST TO JORDAN TODAY!!

23 of our sports finest descended on the Aldershot Raceway today to contest this years SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP and to race in another ROUND of this years HOOSIER RACING TYRE SERIES. Thankfully it was a dry but chilly day so track conditions looked perfect which made for some really fast racing for the healthy in size crowd to watch.

As usual I managed to get into the pits and spoke to our 2 drivers making their DEBUTS in the class. 201 NATHAN BROWNING arriving with the 2019 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP winning car that once belonged to 154 MICHAEL GREEN having bought it off the Northern Irish driver 922 CURTIS GREER. Nathan telling me that he did 5 meetings in the STOCK RODS previously racing at Ipswich,Yarmouth and Hednesford and had practiced with the Superstox at Swaffham (remember there). He is being looked after by the MEADOWS boys who used to race the Supers and James 167 was there at the track mechanicing for him today. Welcome back JAMES! I then spoke to 304 PAUL FRANCIS who was using the car whose previous owner was 268 DANIEL SANTRY. Paul racing in a variety of classes that included the ROOKIE RODS STOCK RODS LIGHTNING RODS and the 2 LITRE STOCK CARS (remember those). Paul managing to practice his car round here at Aldershot in the week prior to this meeting. I also noticed that another driver had arrived with a new toy to play with. 210 DANIEL BARKHAM about to use the car that was formerly owned by 532 BOBBY DAVIS JNR. (missing you Bobby).

Pit walk over. Onto the action. Format was 2 HEATS and the SOUTHERN. In the opening HEAT all 23 drivers took part seeing 36 Louis Skoyles taking an early lead that he was not to relinquish. Early action seeing newbie 201 Nathan Brownings car spin on the pits turn scattering the following cars all over the place leaving his car headlong to the passing traffic. We then saw 515 Jordan Aylward spinning 354 Jake Sturt on the pits turn when the stationary Sturt motor was hit by 713 Ian Beaumont who was following closely behind. Last action in a tranquil race seeing 591 Reid Murray spinning 123 David Miles Snr on the pits turn. Not a great start to the day for the man who was to defend his SOUTHERN title a few hours later. The race win going to 36 LOUIS SKOYLES who won this race by 5 car lengths at its end from the hard charging 540 Brett Wesbroom who really loves this place with third place going to 87 Jack West who seems to likewise!

HEAT ONE RESULT
36 LOUIS SKOYLES 540 87 54 154 515 22 5 511 510

All 23 drivers contested HEAT TWO which was to be an eventful race. At its start 201 Nathan Browning who was having a troublesome debut hit the back straight wall hard ending up in the middle of the track where he was hit by 510 Tommy Aylward who had nowhere to go. Amazingly the rest of the pack managed to avoid hitting the stationary Browning motor but it was in a dangerous position so the Yellow flags came out to halt proceedings so that Nathan and his car could be removed to the safety of the centre by the recovery teams. The race Steward calling a complete RESTART to the race.
On its restart we saw the car of 210 Daniel Barkham hitting the wall hard on the back straight when seconds later his Brother 418 Luke endured a fast spin onto the infield going off track at a rate of knots. Also on the back straight. A couple of laps later the car of 54 Harry Sturt spun entering the back straight scattering the following packs cars in all directions. At this point 87 Jack West was leading from 36 Louis Skoyles. The race was now in its latter stages seeing the cars of the the now "rejoined" 510 Tommy Aylward and 713 Ian Beaumont clash on the pits turn with both resuming their role in the race. We then saw the car of 591 Reid Murray spin on the pits turn with 210 Daniel Barkhams car ending up in the wall trying to avoid the stationary Murray motor. The last action of a good race seeing the cars of 22 Callum Kelman and 418 Luke Barkham end up in the wall after clashing entering the back straight. Seconds after this 87 JACK WEST crossed the line to win the race by 5 car lengths from 36 Louis Skoyles. The PREVIOUS HEAT winner then being docked 2 places by the race Steward after the race for an infringement thus meaning that 515 Jordan Aylward and 540 Brett Wesbroom were promoted to second and third spots as a result.

HEAT TWO RESULT
87 JACK WEST 515 540 36 117 154 5 123 511 354

Our last race was to be for this years SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP title with it sadly minus the Barkham Brothers after their several incidents in the the previous heat. Both 210 Daniel and 418 Luke going home with damaged race cars to fix. 21 drivers starting it on a tricky track surface from the previous Banger race seeing early action coming the way of a massive crash on the home straight involving the 2 PREVOIUS HEAT winners 36 Louis Skoyles and 87 Jack West being joined at that spot by 93 Toby Newman 117 Dan Cole and 354 Jake Sturt. All cars impacting the wall hard. This incident immediately halting proceedings so that all cars could be removed to the safety of the centre. Happily all drivers ok.
This incident taking place on lap 3 with the restart seeing 515 Jordan Aylward off into the lead. A lead he was not to lose. Last action of the race seeing 2 drivers spinning. 603 Kieran Clark on the home straight and 511 Martyn Coles on the Aldershot turn. Seconds later 515 JORDAN AYLWARD crossed the line to win the SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP title for the very FIRST time being pursued all the way to the flag by the hard charging 154 MICHAEL GREEN seeing him close to 4 car lengths at its end with 54 HARRY STURT finishing it in third a little way behind Michael. The top 6 being completed by 5 Eric Walker 123 David Miles Snr who had put in a solid defence of his title and 713 Ian Beaumont.

The congratulations go to 515 JORDAN AYLWARD who becomes SOUTHERN CHAMPION. This being his THIRD title in Supers having won the EUROPEAN in 2017 at Tullyroan over in Northern Ireland and the OPEN SCOTTISH at Lochgelly in 2018.

2024 SUPERSTOX SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP RESULT

515 JORDAN AYLWARD
154 MICHAEL GREEN
54 HARRY STURT
5 123 713 540 22 591 510

In parc ferme I managed to grab a few words with the new champion JORDAN saying to me that its a long way away since his last title thanking all of whom helps him (especially NEIL) being glad to win it happy not to place second in the race as he has done so once before.

Once again the drivers entertained us producing another good meeting. Once again our thanks go out to all of them for doing this for us and themselves. If you liked what you saw today make sure to be at GREAT YARMOUTH on SATURDAY 2nd NOVEMBER when we race next. SHOULD BE GOOD!

MEETING REPORT
SUNDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER 2024
TULLYROAN OVAL NORTHERN IRELAND
SUPERSTOX 2024 IRISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

WE CAME. WE SAW. GREEN CONQUERED!!!

19 drivers arrived at the Tullyroan Oval here in Northern Ireland to contest this years IRISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. The breakdown of drivers being 5 from Scotland (HARDIE RACE PROMOTIONS) 6 from England (SPEDEWORTH MOTORSPORTS) and 8 "locals" (DMC RACE PROMOTIONS) The weather again was perfect meaning the track surface was likewise. I even got "sunburn" watching this meeting! That is how good that days weather was.

An INCARACE grid draw was carried out prior to the opening heat with points on both heats determining the GRID for this years IRISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP with the BEST/WORST points scoring drivers lining up at the FRONT/BACK for that race.

17 drivers contested the opening HEAT which saw E492 Randal Lynns cars aerofoil work loose resulting in a Black flag exclusion from the race. The race was then halted in the latter stages for an enormous crash on the bar turn. S611 Adam Low following in E469 Bradley Brooker full chat into the wall. Bradley being knocked out all be it temporarily on this impacting with the wall. The medics arriving on track to deal with Bradley eventually getting him out of the car having to be helped to walk of the track as at this point was completely discombobulated. His damaged car being towed to the safety of the centre. Bradley certainly has been in the "wars" this year after a season of battling the Aylwards and now this!
At the time of the stoppage 907 Jamie McCann had a healthy lead from S119 Aaron Riddell and E154 Michael Green.
The race restarting seeing Jamie holding onto his lead and eventually getting the race win winning this cone by about 3 car lengths from Riddell with Green staying third. The front three thus staying the same.

So the FIRST IRISH win of the weekend goes to 907 JAMIE MCCANN who wins HEAT ONE of the day.

HEAT ONE RESULT
907 JAMIE MCCANN S119 E154 944 S453 S446 933 E5 E566 E22

16 drivers joined us on track for HEAT TWO with 927 Gregg Hyndman and 950 Jeffrey Martin joining us having missed the opening heat. Loaded up for his hit on Brooker was S611 Adam Low with Bradley sadly out for the rest of the days proceedings as he was probably still trying to piece his day together! HOPE all things are better now Bradley.
This was a fairly quiet race that saw the car of 911 Marc Wi******er enduring a spectacular blow up on the back straight being the only incident of note in this event. 933 Steven Haugh going on to win this race by 7 car lengths from WORLD CHAMPION 944 Jordan Robinson with NEW EUROPEAN CHAMPION E154 Michael Green coming home in third place once again.

Another IRISH winner on the day. HEAT TWO goes to 933 STEVEN HAUGH.

HEAT TWO RESULT
933 STEVEN HAUGH 944 E154 E492 E5 S119 907 S446 E22 S453

After the points were totted up from the heats this is how the GRID looked for the IRISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP race.

2024 SUPERSTOX IRISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

GRID ALL IN A LINE 10 CARS
944 E154 907 933 S446 E22 992 E492 927 950

All Eyes in the crowd were trained on track for the start. Turn one seeing a massive set of cars going wide out near to the wall allowing E154 Michael Green to pass 6 cars by the time he had entered the bar turn to take the lead with E492 Randal Lynn following him through for second at this point having worked his way through from the back. Greens move a real master-stroke. A couple of laps later earlier heat winner 907 Jamie McCann deposed E492 Randal Lynn for second and that is how they stayed to the flag. E154 MICHAEL GREEN becoming the NEW IRISH OPEN CHAMPION thus winning the race for the FOURTH time having won it previously in 2019 2021 and 2022. Greens winning margin being a whole straight at the finish. 907 Jamie McCann having to settle for second with OPEN SCOTTISH CHAMPION E492 Randal Lynn "lucky" to finish third as his cars Engine let go just as he was crossing the line shrouding the track in smoke as he did it. Coming home in fourth was 944 Jordan Robinson with now deposed EUROPEAN CHAMPION S446 Dean Johnston behind him in 5th with 6th and 7th places going to E22 Callum Kelman and 927 Gregg Hyndman. Just 7 cars finishing the race.

This meaning that the brand NEW IRISH OPEN CHAMPION is E154 MICHAEL GREEN thus winning an amazing FOURTH race of the weekend. Winning this title now moves him onto 16 title wins thus moving him up to EQUAL FOURTH on the ALL time list of title winners in the class. Sitting on 41 currently are 482 JASON COOPER and 612 GARRY SPARKES. On 22 is 376 STEVEN JACKSON and on 16 is 69 SHAUN BROOKER 320 DAVE PIERCE and now 154 MICHAEL GREEN. "Almost" incidentally this is Michaels 15th race win of the season.

After the race had finished I was lucky enough to get out on track to interview the winning driver. MICHAEL saying to me that "it was nice to get the title back! The start being hard work having to deliver a cunning hold back move with perfect ex*****on to take the lead. Happy to be going back to Manchester with BOTH titles thanking ALL of his sponsors once again".

After this the top 3 drivers were presented their trophies from RAYMOND BRADLEY from MK2 ES**RT SHELLS AND SPARES before embarking out on a well received lap of honour.

SUPERSTOX 2024 IRISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP RESULT

CHAMPION E154 MICHAEL GREEN
RUNNER UP 907 JAMIE MCCANN
THIRD E492 RANDAL LYNN
FOURTH 944 JORDAN ROBINSON
FIFTH S446 DEAN JOHNSTON
SIXTH E22 CALLUM KELMAN
SEVENTH 927 GREGG HYNDMAN

So a fantastic weekend ends here over in Northern Ireland seeing E154 MICHAEL GREEN going away with the title DOUBLE. Just like E886 CHRIS BRADBURY did last year. A case of WE CAME. WE SAW. GREEN CONQUERED!!

Our NEXT meeting sees the class contesting their SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP title. Can 123 DAVID MILES SNR successfully defend it. Why not come along to the ALDERSHOT RACEWAY on SUNDAY 13th OCTOBER to find out. SEE YOU THERE!!

TULLYROAN OVAL NORTHERN IRELAND
SUPERSTOX 2024 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

"MAJOR" BREAKING NEWS. THE EUROS ARE ON GREEN AS HE NOW COMPLETES THE FULL SET OF THEM!

28 drivers arrived at the Oval to contest this years EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP with 17 of them being locals 5 of them being Scottish including the defending champion 446 Dean Johnston and 6 of them being the English drivers. Our "touring" party being 5 ERIC WALKER 22 CALLUM KELMAN 154 MICHAEL GREEN 469 BRADLEY BROOKER 492 RANDAL LYNN and 566 DECLAN SALMON. Declans car having undergone a make-over having been re-panelled from top to toe. Weather conditions were ideal as well which helped in the producing of an amazing night of action from the class for the large sized crowd to watch. The MAIN event to deliver a classic.

A special mention goes to 2 people who arrived with extra loot to award to the drivers. This coming the by the way of EXTRA prize money. These generous souls being English Superstox driver 252 GARY CHISHOLM of CHISHOLM MOTORSPORT and ANNETTE TURNER who I think is his partner. Great gesture from both of them and the winning drivers were grateful to get their money when winning it. £100 being on offer to highest placed WHITE and YELLOW grader in BOTH HEATS. This was to be 987 PADDY MURPHY. In the EUROPEAN the top 3 got awards of £200 £50 and £50 to go with the prize money on offer from DMC RACE PROMOTIONS.

BOTH HEATS were to be GRADED order starts with POINTS on offer in each with the BEST and WORST points scoring drivers in these lining up at the FRONT/BACK of the GRID in the EUROPEAN which was to be our last race of the night.

ALL 28 drivers emerged from the pits to contest the opening HEAT with action from the get go seeing the cars of S446 Dean Johnston 914 Lee Davison and 944 Jordan Robinson going into the wall hard on turn one. Moments later we saw a fast spin for E492 Randal Lynn down the middle of the home straight. A couple of laps later there was a big crash at the end of the back straight involving 935 David Beattie and 951 Richard Martin ending with both cars completely en-twined but were in a dangerous position on the race track resulting in an immediate stopping of the race so that these could be removed to the safety of the centre.
The race restarting to see the cars of S611 Adam Low and 989 Gerard Hartley go in hard into the wall on turn one. Moments later we saw E154 Michael Green passing the recovered 914 Lee Davison to lead the race. Seconds later S611 Adam Low was involved in another skirmish when he fenced E492 Randal Lynn hard at the end of the back straight. Both drivers having eventful races at this point. The win going to BRITISH CHAMPION E154 MIchael Green who won this race by 3 car lengths at its end from 914 Lee Davison who kept up his pursuit of Green all be it in vain with 907 Jamie McCann completing the top 3. English drivers finishing this one in 6th via 469 Bradley Brooker and 7th via 5 Eric Walker.

HEAT ONE thus going to ENGLISH driver 154 MICHAEL GREEN taking his 12th win of what has been a season of success and these stats were about to get better for him during the rest of the weekend.

HEAT ONE RESULT
E154 MICHAEL GREEN 914 907 933 S119 E469 E5 S611 918 S453

Onto HEAT TWO which saw 23 cars on its starting grid. Action from the off seeing the car of E566 Declan Salmon going in hard into the wall on turn one courtesy of a large push from the chasing pack. Seconds later we saw 914 Lee Davisons car enduring a fast spin on the same bend. English driver 469 Bradley Brooker was living a "charmed" life in this one having several scrapes with the wall throughout managing to carry on each occasion he did so! At the mid-point of the race we saw the car of 937 Conor Murphy in the wall at the entrance of the back straight ending up in a dangerous position on the race track thus leaving the officials no option to stop the race so that his damaged car could be removed to the centre via the "hard" working recovery crew.
The race restarting seeing the car of E469 Bradley Brooker hurtling across the grass at speed on the back straight. Bradley sure was having an eventful race to say the least! Moments later we saw the previous heat winning driver E154 Michael Green passing his counter-part 492 Randal Lynn to assume the lead role of the race. A lead he was not to lose. Drama at the end of this one for 918 David McMenemy as his car went headlong at pace into the wall having clipped the back of S453 Kenny McKenzies car on the home straight. Seconds earlier E154 Michael Green had crossed the line first again to achieve a fine HEAT DOUBLE winning this race from E492 Randal Lynn by 5 car lengths who had kept up his pursuit with 907 Jamie McCann coming home in third place once again. This race seeing only ONE other English driver placing in the top 10 with another 7th placed finish going the way to 5 Eric Walker.

HEAT TWO goes the way of 154 MICHAEL GREEN who now moved onto 13 wins for the season and could he win the MAIN event. We were about to see.

HEAT TWO RESULT
E154 MICHAEL GREEN E492 907 935 933 S119 E5 987 914 S611

Once all the points had been added up this is how the starting GRID looked for the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP.

GRID FOR SUPERSTOX 2024 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
27 CARS ALL IN A LINE

E154 907 933 914 S119 E5 S611 987 E492 E469 918 S453 935 927

965 989 992 911 S446 937 966 919 S128 E22 E566 944 950

Before the race the drivers did 2 PARADE laps in front of an electric atmosphere on the terraces and this race was about to deliver an absolute classic comparable to the WORLD race at Hednesford back in August.
On flag fall we saw the car of 918 David McMenemy go out right at the start when seconds later the cars of E5 Eric Walker and S611 Adam Low went in hard into the wall at the end of the home straight leaving both of them in a dangerous position on the race track causing the cessation of the race so that they could be removed to the safety of the centre. At this point the top 4 in the race was E154 Michael Green 933 Steven Haugh 914 Lee Davison and 907 Jamie McCann.
The race now starting for the SECOND time seeing the car of S453 Kenny McKenzie shooting across the grass when seconds later the car of the now rejoined 918 David McMenemy went full chat into the wall on the bar turn leaving the driver sadly in trouble. The race being stopped straight away so that the medics could see to David. Happily he exited his race car a bit shaken whilst his badly damaged race car was removed to the centre by the recovery crews. At the time of the stoppage it was still the same top 4 from the previous cessation.
The race now starting for the THIRD time seeing 907 Jamie McCann going out of the top places as his car spun on the bar turn. As this was happening an incredible battle was going on for the lead E154 Michael Green having to be at his very best fending off the attacks from 933 Steven Haugh. Both drivers at their limit with the crowds many Eyes trained on this at their battle ensued. Michael getting the better of it eventually assuming a fair lead when disaster for him struck as this lead was lost due to the car of 935 David Beattie was on its roof on turn one leading to another rightful stopping of the race so that the officials could right Davids car so that the recovery crews could tow his badly damaged car to the safety of the centre. Surely this was not history repeating itself at the World for Green. Green having lost another healthy lead just like he did in that race. At this point the top 4 was E154 Michael Green 914 Lee Davison 933 Steven Haugh and S446 Dean Johnston the defending champion having driven a storming race at this point from his lowly grid position.
This race now started for a FOURTH time seeing E154 Michael Green making another fast start but no longer had he done this the race was stopped to deal with 2 incidents on both bends. On the bar turn 965 Troy Crawford had put his counter-part 992 Ethan Martins car full chat into the wall whilst on turn one the car of another Irish driver 919 Dean Catherwood had also gone in hard leaving Dean sadly in trouble. Happily he and Ethan got out of their cars shaken as all 3 cars were taken to the centre by the now "over-worked" recovery crews. The centre now resembling a "scrap-heap" of damaged Superstox at this point! At the point of this stoppage the top 4 had changed with E154 Michael Green still leading with current WORLD CHAMPION 944 Jordan Robinson now behind him. Jordan having driven a blinder from the back row of the grid being helped by the numerous Yellow flag stoppages in the race with 914 Lee Davison and S446 Dean Johnston still 4th.
By now the crowd and especially the Green camp were at fever pitch. The atmosphere simply incredible. The race now having 4 laps to run. Could Michael get away again at the FIFTH time of asking. The answer was YES. Michael getting the fast start again getting away from the World champ and simply would not be denied as those last 4 laps saw no further mishaps crossing the line first to become EUROPEAN CHAMPION for the very FIRST time thus completing the FULL SET of MAJORS in the process. This leading to jubilant scenes in the Green camp. Scenes I got to enjoy as I was stood near to them at the time. They were buzzing. Michael jumping up and down on the roof of his race car in celebration after an EPIC race and drive. This now being Michaels 15th title in the class. His winning margin being around 8 car lengths at the end with 944 Jordan Robinson having to settle for runners up spot on this occasion with 914 Lee Davison on his back bumper at the end of the race in third. The top 3 consisting of 3 past or current WORLD CHAMPIONS. Talking of Champions defending champion S446 Dean Johnston had put in a Stirling defence of it to finish in 4th. The other places in the race going to S119 Aaron Riddell 907 Jamie McCann 7th and 8th going the way of English pairing 566 Declan Salmon and 492 Randal Lynn 9th going to 933 Steven Haugh with the top 10 completed by the English driver 469 Bradley Brooker.

So the brand new EUROPEAN CHAMPION is ENGLISH driver 154 MICHAEL GREEN. This making it 14 wins this season for him and an incredible HAT-TRICK of wins on the night.

Due to the incredible genorosity of the promoters DMC RACE PROMOTIONS I was LUCKY to get out on track and speak to the top 2 drivers after this EPIC of a race.

CHAMPION 154 MICHAEL GREEN Overjoyed now to have completed the FULL set of MAJORS. Fantastic to win this historic title for the FIRST time. What an effort it had took to win the title and happy that history did not repeat itself like it did in the WORLD race. Somehow managing to stave off the Irish drivers attacks on five occasions. Michael being keen to thank people at this point. He wishes to thank STEVEN HOWARTH for the 2 new race tyres on his car. He also thanked GAVIN HOLMES at LANDFILL PIPE with regards to his brakes and the extra prize money being presented to him via GARY CHISHOLM and ANNETTE TURNER.

RUNNER UP 944 JORDAN ROBINSON Incredibly surprised to get second spot having started at the back. Going on to say how hard a race it was and that the 5 Yellow flags had certainly helped his cause.

After this the drivers gleefully received their prizes from RAYMOND BRADLEY of MK2 ES**RT SHELLS AND SPARES before embarking on a well received and hard earned lap of honour.

What an incredible night of racing. The MAIN race EPIC just like the WORLD and all our congratulations in the Superstox World and especially here at SUPERSTOX FACEBOOK go out to our new EUROPEAN CHAMPION 154 MICHAEL GREEN on now completing his FULL set of MAJORS in the process. Some achievement.
