They say you can’t buy happiness, but you can buy gelato in Italy. What’s your favourite Italian flavour? But before your taste buds start to linger into those future summer days walking the beaches of the Adriatic, let's just take a look at some of our selected gelaterias:

Venchi. Originally a chocolatier, Venchi also offers exquisite gelato. Their chocolate and hazelnut flavours (made with only Piedmont hazelnuts) are to die for. Add Bronte Pistachios and you will find yourself in heaven.

Suso in Venice. True, sincere and surprising, like a kaleidoscope of taste. So much so that it has been decreed by Venetians and non-Venetians alike as “the Gelateria” of Venice! Try their Tarta de Queso, their Mimosa, Malaga… and I have only named a few. Exciting and super innovative where the blend of flavours shows sheer intelligence.

Giolitti in Rome, where it all began back in 1890 when Giuseppe and Bernadina Giolitti opened a creamery on the Salita del Grillo, where they sold milk from their own pastures in the Roman countryside. Very soon, thanks to the quality of the products, the creamery was supplying the Italian royal family. Their ice creams are simply mind blowing, from mini delights to super-size and at times a little dramatic.

So what is your favourite gelateria and favourite flavour apart from vanilla and chocolate?

Our Story

The Italian Connection is all about creating a bespoke Italian holiday. We listen to your specific needs and design our holidays with only you in mind. www.italian-connection.co.uk

At The Italian Connection & Spirito Italiano, our main job is to take care of your Italian holiday and travel needs, but that is not all we do. When we say "take care", we mean exactly that. Our consultants are all Italian and know the country inside out and will help you create the perfect experience. From discovering the art and culture of Italy to touring off the beaten track and unearthing inaccessible villages and exploring new gems while of course savouring legendary wines and enjoying the regional foods. Why not tell us what you want from a skiing holiday. The winter sports centres of the Italian Alps and the Dolomites have diversity enough for all if you know where to look. Perhaps you wish to enjoy the Spring serenity of Sicily or the milder, misty climes of the Tuscan hills in Autumn. Whether you are after the cosy B&B or the all-inclusive resort, the city apartment or the luxury pad, we have a vast selection on offer. Whatever your reasons for travelling to Italy, whether your wish is to indulge, unwind, learn or discover, play or simply relax, all you need to do is to let us know and allow us to create the perfect itinerary. We take away all the stress and ensure that our bespoke proposals do not miss out on the essentials and the tiniest of detail. We ensure that your trip is exquisitely planned, allowing you to fully enjoy yourself as soon as your feet touch the ground. Whether you are after a slow Italian holiday, you just wish to relax and indulge, perhaps a multi-centre trip where you want to take in as much of Italy as possible, or perhaps you are after a last-minute trip or wish to or wish to enjoy an opera, a football or rugby match or exhibition which is being held.

You will hear much these days about tailor-made holidays, but, when we say it, we mean precisely that. We do not recommend packages somewhere near your requirements, our holidays are bespoke. They are as far from the run of the mill package tour as the Brenner Pass is from the island of Pantelleria. All we need to know is how long you have available, indicative dates and budget and an idea of what you wish to achieve, and then all you need to do is to leave the rest to us.
