More developments at the cottage, this time a new log store built by family (not in the photograph!). Designed and constructed to survive the occasional storm. The wood will be sufficiently dried out to be used in 2025.

We have just bought this fine table with benches so that we can all sit comfortably and enjoy the view, perhaps with a meal and a glass of something nice.

This noble hound was photographed on the walk at Loch Bad an Scalaig, where over a million native trees have been planted by the estate over an area of several square miles. It is a lovely walk with tremendous views and it is good to be in native pinewood.

We have been planting apple trees - eating apple, cooking apple and crab apple - for their lovely blossom in Spring and fruit in Autumn. They have evocative names like "Golden Hornet" and "Beauty of Bath" which is for one of my cousins who lives in Bath.

Badachro Inn makes most excellent pizzas for eating in the pub or takeaway. A pleasant 15 minute evening walk from the cottage.

Re-painting the cottage today in fantastic weather. The Merry hound got bored and grabbed a brush and wanted to be chased. Anything to stop painting!

Another relaxing moment taken this afternoon at Red Point beach. It was perfect - the weather was beautiful, we were the only people there and the views to Skye and the Outer Isles were excellent.

Perhaps a bit hard core for some, but the winter hill walking in the Torridon hills is spectacular. However, you must be an experienced winter hill walker or be with a guide. All within about forty five minutes drive of the cottage.

Welcome to our lovely holiday cottage in the picturesque village of Badachro in the Scottish Highlands. The same family have owned Aird cottage for more than seventy years, with children, adults (and dogs!) enjoying the cottage, its extensive garden and the great outdoors.
