I have over 28 years experience in this industry, I know where to look for the best deals and if I wouldn't go there then I wouldn't send my clients and VERY importantly everything you book with me is financially protected.

It’s Another Myth Busting Monday!

Today I am busting the myth that touring and adventure holidays are just for large groups of people.

Busting this myth is actually another great way of highlighting why there really is a touring option for everyone.

- For some of you the large groups are exactly what you are looking for. Ideal for you if you enjoy the chance to meet new and likeminded people, you love group comradery and would like that a larger amount of people means that you can get to know a lot of people.

- For some of you a large group might be intimidating or perhaps you might feel that with a larger group of people that you may have less time for exploring as you are waiting for other people.

- Some simply don’t like the idea of group travel and would rather have a more bespoke experience.

For all of the above there are options I can match your personal preferences to the right type of tour for you.

- Larger touring group options are readily available and would usually be a maximum coach size of 45 people.

- Small group touring options are available with many of my suppliers, some who have introduced this to run along side their existing group programme and some who specialise in small group travel only. Group sizes would average around half that of the larger options so 15-20 people.

- Private touring options are also available and these could be a solo traveller, a couple, a group of friends of a family who wish to travel together.

All these options are fully available with the operators I work giving you the opportunity to select the style that suits you best.

It's Myth Busting Monday!

Today the myth we are busting is 'Touring and Adventure Holidays are really expensive’!

This is simply not the case - these holidays offer great value and here’s why!

It is true that sometimes the up front price of the holiday can look high but this is before you look at the sheer amount included in the trips. These prices that initially look high actually mean that you will then face no hidden extras and almost everything on the trip is included.

All touring companies offer different options but in the main transport, accommodation and some if not all experiences are included along with a driver and knowledgeable local guide. Some will also include meals, drinks and more. So with so much included in the up front price this helps with your budgeting.

The buying power of each of our operators means that they are able to source some if not all of the key elements of the holiday at a lower rate than if a guest was to try to do it themselves and this is reflected in the package price.

In fact in our comparisons with tour operator vs doing it alone the tours work out over 30% cheaper PLUS include exclusive experiences that cannot be bought by individuals, along with local knowledge from a guide that couldn’t be gained from travelling alone.

There is a touring or adventure holiday out there for all budgets and as a touring expert I can go through the details of which tours would offer you the best value and explain clearly states what is included in each package and talk you through the price of each to explain the value to you.

Do not assume that because you have a lower budget you cannot take a touring or adventure holiday, in fact it could be the perfect holiday to allow you to budget and still have an amazing experience.

It's Myth Busting Monday! (Apologies I know I am posting on a Tuesday - just busy).

Today the myth I am busting is 'Expedition Cruises only operate in the polar regions’.

Expedition is a way to explore so why would it be limited to certain areas! Yes Expedition cruises are the perfect way to visit the polar regions but there is so much more available.

The first region, is The Galapagos. This remote group of islands are the perfect destination to take an expedition cruise. It's on my list - is it on yours?

Believe it or not The British Isles also offer an amazing opportunity for expedition cruise, giving passengers the chance to visit our rugged coastlines, remote islands and viewing native wildlife.

Other key destinations you may not have considered for expedition cruises include Alaska, West Africa, South America, The Caribbean and Central America (which might be considered more mainstream cruise territory) and North America.

Expedition cruise locations are endless and increasing all the time.

Each Monday until Christmas I will be using Monday to bust a myth about touring and adventure. The content has been taken from the recent conference held by the Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (ATAS).

Second Myth - Adventure Travel is only for super fit people!

Not at all. Adventure travel has changed and comes in many different formats there is of course the opportunity to challenge yourself by climbing Mount Toubkal or Kilimanjaro but these are not the only options available to people looking for an adventure.

There are also trips for those looking to immerse themselves in local culture, some might even include a stay in the home of a local family.

Foodie opportunities where travellers might get to create the food they are eating.

Wellness experiences that tend to be slower paced itineraries and may involve yoga, meditation or even paddle boarding.

There are also family adventures for travellers of all ages where all members of the family get to experience other cultures in a family friendly way.

The above doesn't even scratch the surface with how many options are available but hopefully it demonstrates that you don't have to be an adrenaline ju**ie to enjoy an adventure holiday!

Our first myth is that Touring holidays are ONLY for old people!

What's the reality!

Touring is for everyone - there are so many options available that they are truly available for all age groups. There is nothing that restricts anyone from travelling on a touring holiday.

Age means nothing - since when did we decide that certain age groups can do certain holidays? There are 90 year olds running the London Marathon and young people spending all their time watching TV or playing computer games. Whilst I know these are extremes, age doesn't limit or dictate a holiday choice.

It's about interests not the ages - it's about me - your travel advisor spending time talking to you about your interests and then find the touring holidays that I think will suit your requirements.

Specific Youth brands - if touring was ONLY for old people we wouldn't see brands such as Contiki or Top Deck that cater specifically for the younger traveller.

So are touring holidays just for Old People!
NO! Absolutely not they are for everyone.

I'm currently travelling in Greece on holiday. We have started our tour in Athens where we have spent two nights. As a first time visitor I was very impressed and would recommend the destination for a long weekend in the sunshine.

Plenty of history, abundant shopping opportunities, beautiful districts like Plaka - one of the oldest districts in Athens and plenty of opportunities to extend your stay combining the city with beach/island life.
