If you're out on the beach between Bacton and Sea Palling, you may come across a strange discovery!
A Deep History Detective community project run by Pathways to Ancient Britain is examining how artefacts move along the Deep History Coast – how far they move and over what timeframe. And so, bright pink numbered stones have been placed along this stretch of coastline. If you come across one, please record the location using the CITiZAN app. Once you’ve recorded the location, please leave the replica on the beach so its journey can continue to be tracked! 80 years ago, 199 Squadron were in final stage preparation for their important role in Operation Overlord. D-Day was the first most secret operation from RAF North Creake. The aircrews from this station in North Norfolk provided an electronic screen that concealed the allied attack from the eyes of enemy radar. This was its first use and it was successful in hiding from the German radar the Allied forces approaching Normandy.

One of the most iconic sights in North Norfolk is The Control Tower (old North Creake Airfield) which has had many uses since the Second World War. Now it is transformed into a special place to stay in North Norfolk, just 3 miles south of Wells-next-the-Sea. In June 2024 the B&B will be celebrating its 10th year in business.
