Journeying Walking holidays What we offer is almost certainly unique in Britain. Its origins lie in Celtic spirituality and most of our trips still reflect that approach.

Journeying is a non-profit organisation that takes small groups on holiday in an informal Christian ambience to the more off-the-beaten-track parts of Britain and Ireland. Pilgrimage has been part of our story from the earliest days and that aspect continues to form a thread woven through all that we do.

Today is St Dyfrig's day. He was a 6th century bishop in Wales and is mentioned on the Ogham Stone in St Illtyd's church on that we will visit in 2025. The notches on the edge of the stone are in an ancient Irish language called Ogham and refer to his Latin name Dubricius. A poem for Autumn

Pleasant Sounds by
John Clare (1793–1864)

The rustling of leaves under the feet in woods and under hedges;
The crumpling of cat-ice and snow down wood-rides,
narrow lanes and every street causeway;
Rustling through a wood or rather rushing, while the wind
halloos in the oak-toop like thunder;
The rustle of birds' wings startled from their nests or flying
unseen into the bushes;
The whizzing of larger birds overhead in a wood, such as
crows, puddocks, buzzards;
The trample of robins and woodlarks on the brown leaves.
and the patter of squirrels on the green moss;
The fall of an acorn on the ground, the pattering of nuts on
the hazel branches as they fall from ripeness;
The flirt of the groundlark's wing from the stubbles –
how sweet such pictures on dewy mornings, when the
dew flashes from its brown feathers.

Please join us for a festive Day Walk through the beautiful Wye Valley, Monmouthshire, on Saturday 7th December 2024. We gather at Tintern Abbey at 10.30 am.

All Day Walks are free, just bring a packed lunch. Dogs are welcome.
