With the restart of in 🌻🌞 and the changes in the island in economic and monetary matters, some things are now different for tourists. Find here some of them, which I have learned from foreign visitors and some of the ‘casas particulares’ owners.
• Try not to change a lot of currency when you arrive in Cuba. Most of the services and products for tourism must be paid in MLC (this is as we call in Cuba any convertible foreign currency according to official exchange rates) or with credit cards (Visa or Mastercard preferably, but not issued by North American banks). With 2000 Cuban pesos you can start until you explore the current situation. Anyway, you'll have plenty of opportunities to exchange currency conveniently.
• Try not to change currency with people you don’t know. Lean on your host or someone you already know and know where to locate again.
• With ‘trustworthy people’ in Cuba (bearing in mind that you are visiting the island and you don't really know anyone) you can buy again euros or American dollars fundamentally. Again: I advise you NOT TO DO IT ON YOUR OWN. Consult with someone else!!!
• Cubans use WhatsApp to communicate more economically. Install it on your phone before coming. It will be very useful during your stay in Cuba.
