Today we submitted 6,432 coins for testing at the UK’s oldest judicial ceremony, the Trial of the Pyx, held at Goldsmiths’ Hall in the City of London since 1871 🤩

A highlight of this year’s submission is a silver sixpence made from silver recovered from expired medical and industrial x-ray films 🩻

Is this the most intricate medal in history? 🤔

The Waterloo Medal took 30 years to engrave. When it finally arrived at The Royal Mint in 1849, the die was so large and detailed that it couldn’t be struck using 19th century technology. Now Benedetto Pistrucci's masterpiece has been recreated using original dies and modern techniques - making its debut on an official UK coin.
