Some promising news this morning...

From 21 February 2022, all fully vaccinated visa holders can travel to Australia without a travel exemption. Unvaccinated visa holders will still need a valid travel exemption to enter Australia. However, Western Australia is still holding strong.

The Minister of Immigration has announced visa changes to support the reopening of Australia's borders from the 1st of December 2021. This is great news for skilled regional (provisional) visa holders 489, 491, 494 who have been stranded offshore. The Government has announced that it will extend the visas, of those adversely affected by the border closures, to allow holders to complete their pathway to residence.

There is also good news for short-term 482 and 457 (over 45) visa holders who chose to remain in Australia - concessions will be made to allow these holders to upgrade to permanent residency, which they were not previously allowed to do.

The Minister also announced a host of concessions for international students and graduates to facilitate their return to Australia.

Some good news for a Monday morning 😄

From 1 December 2021, fully vaccinated eligible visa holders can come to Australia without needing to apply for a travel exemption.

Eligible visa holders include skilled and student cohorts, as well as humanitarian, working holiday maker and provisional family visa holders.

Under these arrangements, travellers must:
• Be fully vaccinated with a completed dosage of a vaccine approved or recognised by Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)
• Hold a valid visa for one of the eligible visa subclasses
• Provide proof of their vaccination status
• Present a negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test taken within three days of departure.

Travellers to Australia must comply with the quarantine requirements in the state or territory of their arrival, and any other state or territory to which they plan to travel.
