🌿🌿 2025 FESTIVAL: SAVE THE DATE!! 🌿🌿

You might remember that this year was Simon's last year of running Dartmoor Walking Festival. He's handed it over to Hannah Durdin, Director of Moorland Guides and Richard Matthews, local expedition leader, adventurer and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

They have started work on the Festival and have some very exciting plans to grow what it offers and make it a celebration of everything Dartmoor has to offer! We'll have some really exciting announcements about the festival in the coming weeks and months but in the meantime, we'd like to announce that we have set the dates for the festival for next year so please do note them in your diaries and keep your eyes peeled for more updates on this in due course!

So, without further ado, the 2025 Festival will be taking place from Friday 29th August - Friday 5th September!

We can't wait to see you there!

Supporting the Sea Eagles making Exmoor their home.

We're launching a White-tailed Eagle public perception survey and engagement events, to share how we're partnering with the ‘White Tailed Eagle Reintroduction Programme’ in England led by the Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation RDWF and Forestry England, to support conservation of the species.

If you are heading to the beach this weekend you might want to pop to one of the toy libraries which can be found all around the North Devon coast. Our lovely colourful toy library can be found in the courtyard of the Northam Burrows visitor centre between 10am and 5pm daily until the end of October half term. You can also find toy libraries at Saunton, Croyde, Woolacombe, Hele Bay and Combe Martin.

💚 😍 Exciting news! Pine martens are back on Dartmoor 🐾

After a 150 year absence, Devon Wildlife Trust and partners have reintroduced these elusive, forest dwelling creatures to the South West as part of the Two Moors Pine Marten Project.

Since they are so few in numbers, shy by nature, and love the nighttime, you may not spot them – but if you want to know more about the Pine Martens Bounce Back: the Two Moors Pine Marten Project, and their return to Dartmoor’s woodlands, head over to: https://bit.ly/4eNUwSV ✨

The project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to players, this project aims to restore healthy populations of pine martens to the South West of England.
