A large crowd of draft horses congregated at the famous Kelpies sculptures in Scotland today in honor of the upcoming 10th anniversary of the installations.
𝘐𝘔𝘈𝘎𝘌: Peter Sandground

The Kelpies, towering at a height of 100ft and weighing over 300 tonnes each, are a remarkable man-made marvel and a testament to engineering prowess. These magnificent sculptures, crafted by artist Andy Scott, have become iconic landmarks, taking inspiration from the Clydesdale horses Duke and Baron, symbols of a bygone era. Symbolizing the legacy of Scotland's heavy horse in industry and economy, the Kelpies were the driving force behind the wagons, ploughs, barges, and coalships that shaped Falkirk's landscape.

The name "Kelpies" pays homage to the mythical creatures known for their immense strength and endurance, embodying the transformative changes in the region's landscapes, the resilience of its waterways, and the fortitude of its communities. The Kelpies are open to the public throughout the year, free of charge, thanks to their strategic location in The Helix park. The surrounding area has been thoughtfully designed to ensure accessibility for all, allowing everyone to admire these colossal sculptures up close. For an exclusive glimpse into their engineering and ingenuity, visitors can even embark on a tour inside one of the Kelpies. Before concluding your visit, make sure to explore the visitor center, which offers a gift shop, a café, and further information about these magnificent creations.

💚 Congratulations to our friends at Lyme Resource Centre - Scotland for getting this 8 year old’s tick bite story to Holyrood as part of their Lyme Disease Awareness Month campaign activity.

“We were thrilled to see 25 MSPs attend, and many people sign the pledge to help tackle ticks and Lyme disease awareness. We know the population of ticks is increasing and our latest research shows that, although awareness is improving, there is still a significant lack of understanding amongst people in Scotland. ‘‘
- Arlene Bailey, LRC
