Quercus is looking very beautiful at the moment - surrounded by trees, set in an enclosed half acre of garden, it nestles into the changing seasons and the colours are wonderful. A unique handcrafted oak cottage, built some 50 years ago without a single nail, Quercus is a cottage on its own in four acres of land: no other dogs or people have access though Tony and I wander up occasionally 😊 Amd I can guarantee no pine pod will pop up unexpectedly in the field - we have no plans to add any other holiday homes. Quercus will always be that ‘one on its own’ haven and you won’t have to share your holiday - or your field - with anyone else 😊

With temperatures dipping to minus 17 at night, it's lucky that the oak cottage is well-insulated and has a log burner, plus underfloor heating... stunning views from Quercus at changeover yesterday!

We have been working on Quercus for the last fortnight (well, Tony has done the lion's share of the maintenance) and so we have put in a new shower, painted the outside including the front door, stained the decking and replaced the boards, sanded and varnished the floor with a matte finish so that our lovely canine guests don't slip around as much, washed all the sofa covers and replaced the sofa cushions - which I love! with blue t**s on them! - and the throws, and the kitchen chair pads. It's been very busy but I managed to find time to sneak in some fairy lights for the bedroom too.... I hope you like the rather rushed photos. More to follow.

For all our guests who have asked about returning in 2023… Booking for Quercus is now live on the website. And although it’s not in the information yet, we will have a wood fired hot tub installed for next year 😊 the photos from this morning show the lovely 5 acre field which is there for your dogs to run around in.

Fancy a last minute break here in Biggar, Scotland - staying in an oak framed cottage, with unlimited supplies of wood for a log burner, in the peace and tranquility of your own five acres of garden and fields, with or without your doggie companions? Well, due to a last minute cancellation (unavoidable, due to health reasons) we have an unexpected free week from 26th November to 3rd December - just about the only free week for months! the cost will be £490 with up to three dogs. What a glorious Autumn morning up at Quercus yesterday - it was such a pleasure getting this little haven ready for our next guests. The many trees in the half acre enclosed garden are just turning golden and there is still some colour in the flower bed

**update NOW BOOKED
We have had a cancellation due to a poorly dog having an operation - so a rare week has become available. It is the only one we have this year! It’s in November (19th-26th) and will be £550 with up to three dogs... they go free! It is a doggie holiday with hoomans allowed after all 😊 . We can’t guarantee the sunshine we’ve been enjoying but if you fancy a cosy week tramping through the fields and enjoying the peace among the trees, then cosying up with a coffee and a book in front of the log burner, then do let me know.

Hello! We have a free week in July (23rd-30th) due to a Dutch couple sadly having had to cancel their booking. It is the only week we have available until January next year!
