Well, we know Shropshire's lovely, but it's still exciting to have it appear in a list of top 10 destinations worldwide. Just a shame they forgot to include Station Cottage in their list of the counties highlights...

The "rural gem" is featured alongside a region in Spain, Saxony in Germany, Vietnam and Zambia.

A warm glow from Bucknell Station cottage as it welcomes visitors back after the roof replacement and interior improvements 🤗

While the roof was off we took the opportunity to spruce up the bedrooms. Woodwork painted in historic colours of our station, green for the double room and brown for the twin room.

We've also got a new log burner, after the old one cracked. While installing it we found out the chimney stack was unstable, so we've got a new chimney stack too. Who said that owning an old house isn't fun and easy?

It feels like the scaffolding has been up forever, but I checked my diary and it's actually only been a couple of months. It came down this morning and it's lovely seeing the new roof and refurbished canopies over the platform glowing in the spring sunshine.
Why not jump on a train and give us a visit?

It's taken a while to get here, but at last the scaffolding is up and the replacement of the roof on Station Cottage at Bucknell can begin. The original had lasted 150 years, but was starting to look a bit sad and we wanted to deal with it before any timber started getting damaged.

Work will be complete by mid-March and we're looking forward to welcoming guests back for a stay in the Shropshire countryside in the spring.
