Did you know that the clock in the tower of Leeds Town Hall and the clock in the Elizabeth Tower housing Big Ben were designed by the same person? Non other than Leeds Banker and amateur horological Edmund Beckett Denison. Beckett’s Bank stood in Park St where the Natwest stands today. Beckett’s, one if the cities most important banks, was eventually taken over by NatWest. Pop in the Park Street branch in Leeds and there is a really interesting panel display about the history of Beckett’s Bank
