Very proud to have played a small part in helping Jill get her book to publication. Will you join us for her launch?

There's just 4 days until my book gets published!

I mentioned briefly at the beginning of the week that I have spent the last year working on my book, and the day is nearly here for me to show it to the world!

'𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲: 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀' will be out in the open for people to buy on Tuesday and I can't contain my excitement.

The book means a lot to me and I want to get this across to others, so I will be hosting an online launch on Tuesday at 12:30pm. This webinar-style session will be a chance for anyone who is interested to come along and hear about the book in my own words. Plus you'll get a sneak peek of what it contains.

I would love for you to join me, you can sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/book-launch-redundancy-with-love-tickets-495010599027

Or if you can't wait that long (I know I can't!), you can pre-order it here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Redundancy-Love-Getting-people-business/dp/1781337276

LAST CALL

Do you do business in Fleet or close by? Then we would love to meet you.

We're a very friendly and supportive networking community helping each other through these trying times.

We do things a bit differently at Fabulous Networking so no pitches, more conversation.

Our meetings are relatively small so you get a chance for in depth conversations with other attendees.

Everyone is welcome. We don't restrict attendees by profession or gender. We love sharing, learning and growing the community if you feel the same why not come along?

The cost is £12 to cover refreshments and venue costs and is an allowable business expense. Pay on arrival.

It helps with the planning if you can book, link in the bio or cut and paste from here https://fabulousnetworking.co.uk/event/fleet-in-person-business-networking/

From our member Jonny Andrews. If you are not yet a UW customer this is a great offer. Jonny is a pleasure to deal with and UW are very reliable. (Don't forget to ask Jonny about the cashback card so you can save money on your fuel bills when you shop)

Some fantastic news from UW! As you may know, UW offer the cheapest energy in the UK, with rates always under the government's Energy Price Guarantee.

UW are now offering new customers who are homeowners and who bundle three or more services an even bigger Bill Busting £200 Boost. That's a £200 credit on your bill! This is on top of the savings you will get anyway. Unbelievable! Who do you know who would like an extra £200 off their utility bills before Xmas? Happy to have an informal chat with any of your friends, family or business colleagues you think this might help. Just let me have a contact no.

And here's UW's Brand Ambassador Ben Fogle to tell you all about it. Watch this 30 sec video.

In case you hadn't noticed today is Earth Day. It's a day when we focus on what we could and should do to save our planet. Shouldn't every day be Earth Day?

Perhaps we can use today to take a conscious look at everything we do and think what changes we could make to minimise our negative impact on the natural world.

Here are three questions to prompt y/our thinking...
1 Do I really need to do/use this?
2. Is there a more sustainable alternative?
3. How might we mitigate the damage this causes?

I'll admit to being a stationery addict but I have reined myself in and am using less paper and using scrap where I can.

We have changed our printed marketing to use more eco friendly paper and inks, replaced bubble wrap envelopes for more sustainable alternatives and chosen gifts with better eco credentials.

As we emerge from the pandemic and move back to more in person meetings we have committed to a regular subscription to to offset our carbon footprint. We are also planting a tree for every person who attends one of our in person meetings.

I know we are only scratching at the surface and I want to, and will, do more. But we have to start somewhere.

If you are looking for somewhere to start we'd love you to use our link to sign up to Ecologi (it's not a big commitment). Today they are giving a bonus of a 100 trees in your forest and 100 in ours (usually 30). Not only will the trees offset our carbon footprints in years to come but planting them creates jobs where they are much needed. Here's our link

What better topic could you have for a talk at a meeting at the fabulous Chawton House?

Chawton House is the former home of Jane Austen's brother and the author apparently spent significant time there. You can almost feel her presence as you walk round the house.

Our very own author Nick Keith is sharing some lessons he's learned from some Times authors.

There'll also be time to introduce your business to other attendees, to have some informal conversation and to eat some home made cake!

The cost is £12 which is a marketing expense which can be offset against your tax bill.

Parking is on the road outside the house, or on the car park at the end of the road. There is very limited disabled parking by the house. If the door is not open when you arrive please knock. The meeting is in the Billiards Room.

The house is a lovely destination for a day out so why not combine business with pleasure?

Book here https://fabulousnetworking.co.uk/event/alton-business-networking-3/ or just show up.

Wishing you all a lovely long weekend.

There's still time to book for tomorrow morning. It's always a lively and fun session with Jacqui McGinn in the chair. Join us for what promises to be a lively discussion on Doing business in 2022. What are the opportunities for our businesses and how can we take advantage? How can we mitigate the risks of the threats facing us? This will follow on from Glenda Shawley's talk at Alton last week and Jacqui McGinn will no doubt add her own unique spin. But we'd like your contributions too. Do book here so we can send you the Zoom link https://fabulousnetworking.co.uk/event/online-business-networking-with-jacqui-mcginn-2/

Kindness should not be restricted to just one day of the year! However is a good day to think about whether we are as consistently kind as we could be. It would be a good day to think what more we could do.

Here are five, low cost/no cost ideas that might work for your business.

1. Send an unsolicited testimonial or LinkedIn recommendation to one of your suppliers.
2. Share another business owner's content with your audience if it would benefit both.
3. Give time or level limited free access to a paid service that could help your audience.
4. Share a how to guide, a template or a checklist that works for you and could be helpful to your audience.
5. Invite someone who needs help, or who has done you a favour, to an event that would support them as your guest.

What other ideas could you add to this list? Have you received any random acts of kindness? How did they make you feel?

Don't we all want to feel a little bit special? We want to know that people care.

How can we show our prospects and our existing customers that they really matter to us?

I believe that this is an area where smaller businesses can do better than our larger counterparts. We can start by making things personal.

The better we know our customers the more individually we can treat them. It isn't always about giving gifts either. It can just be remembering something that was important and showing interest. Maybe a link to an article, a book or a TV programme would have impact. Maybe some shared photos would be well received.

A thoughtful act may yield much better returns than any amount of money.

Networking can help us to get to know people in much greater depth. Use one to one conversations and break out rooms to explore things that you have in common, special interests and shared history.

Make a note of your discoveries. It might help with our next who's the member quiz but it will certainly help you to develop relationships that you both can benefit from.

Just knowing someone is not enough. We need to get to like and trust them and help them to like and trust us.

We're unlikely to do that at one meeting or in a crowded room. It's the 1-2-1 conversations we have that will move the relationships along. Maybe we need to have lunch or dinner together to get into a more meaningful conversation.

But we can't go into that level of connection with everyone we meet. So how do we grow a relationship with those with whom we have less in common?

I think that's where social media can come in. Connect and engage with each other's posts. Share when your contact says something of value to your audience.

Ultimately we might move the relationship on to coffee or even dinner but we have to manage our time effectively. These questions might help you to prioritise your next steps when you meet someone new...

How much do you have in common? This might be personally or in business.

Is there synergy in what you do? Is there potential for collaboration which would be a win/win for both of you?

Does this person have contacts or knowledge that would really benefit you? Do you have something of value in exchange?

If you don't really know the answers to these questions then your time may well be better spent growing the connection on social media and at meetings you both attend. As time goes on you'll work out whether investing more time and energy is good for you both.

How do you decide who to have a one to one with? Do you sometimes agree to a meeting and then wish you hadn't committed the time?

Will you say yes today?

Imagine the scene: Saturday night down at the Disco, the girls are dancing around their handbags hoping the dishy guy they’ve got their eyes on might come and ask them to dance. The guys meanwhile are debating who is going for which lady.

Do you try to pack too much in to your one minute introductions? Most of us do, at least some of the time.

This session will consider what the key information your buyer needs at the early stage of their decision making journey is. How do you get that across in 60 seconds or so in a way that is interesting and relevant?

This is a collaborative session where we help each other with considered and constructive feedback. The aim is to arrive at a recording of your 60 seconds which you can use to promote your business or to learn from.

Spaces are still available but booking is essential so we can structure the session to work for everyone (maximum 6 participants). Book here https://fabulousnetworking.co.uk/event/working-lunch-4/

There are no lock out clauses or pressure to refer; everyone is welcome.

Why not visit https://fabulous-women.co.uk/calenderevent.aspx and find a meeting near you?

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our meetings soon and hope you will join our community.
