Did you go to Dollar Academy? Have you booked your next birthday? why don’t you spend it with a group of friends and family in Dollar. We were delighted that Summer bookings stated to come in this week. It’s always lovely to hear of groups of friends coming back to Dollar to celebrate their birthdays. A 30th birthday party have booked for dinner and our accommodation to allow everyone time to make special memories. Have you ever stayed in an airbnb with a view of a castle? Yup, literally from the decking, you look up and see Castle Campbell. Not only that but at the bottom of the garden there is a gate and you can make your way up to the castle in under twenty minutes. I know. I know. You must be fit I hear you say. Well relatively but honestly it is that close. This is the most romantic getaway for outdoor freedom and space then dining in or out in the evening. I like ambling down through the tree lined cherry blossom to the in the evening. Or a pint and fish and chips on a Friday Why don’t you click on the link and get yourself a wee night away? As your host I like to give you the privacy to enjoy the apartment and the freedom to feel it’s yours while you stay. I love the feeling of excitement visiting some place new so why would I spoil that by cramping your style! Outdoor fun running, walking and swimming are some of my passions and you’ll love it here. If you just want to relax with a view of the castle, then we’ve got that covered too! I allow you to settle in with the independence to retrieve keys from a key safe pad and not feel the need to be restricted by time and rules. I’m a rule breaker myself 🤣 so I love to meet all you wild and interesting characters. Most people come to visit friends and family living in Dollar; to climb the Ochil hills or settle their children into the boarding houses at Dollar Academy. Whatever your reason is to visit us, in the central belt of Scotland, we welcome you with open arms. 🫶🏼

Many of our visitors, to Dollar, bring their dogs and I would do that too! Hill walking in Scotland is popular and the Ochil Hill walks are not over populated so you really get a sense that the hill is yours and yours alone. Today we welcome Chrissy and she was delighted with a wee picture showing castle Campbell from the decking this morning. I have given her the heads up that this weekend is to be a little wild in the outdoors and maybe she’ll cosy up by the fire They have an amazing selection of books and my son in law is now the proud owner of a new running book. Happy Friday everyone. Come to Scotland and perhaps climb some Scottish hills.

Dollar is a great base for hill walking, trail running, open water swimming and cycling. King’s Seat Hill is one of the most prominent of the Ochils, being set right at the top of the steep southern front of the range. It can be climbed from either Dollar or Tillicoultry, as well as included in a classic round of all the Donald summits of the Ochils. Guests often break up their trip North when doing the North Coast 500 or stop off on the way back from a visit to Skye or the Highlands. As we are under an hour to both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports we are an attractive start or finish to a trip to Scotland. We welcome those visiting with dogs.

Wishing you all a relaxing Monday holiday here in Scotland . It’s changeover day here for us at the foot of Dollar Glen and I always enjoy the time spent at the apartment looking out onto Castle Campbell. In the evenings it’s lit up at night so a perfect romantic get away. Today I’m off paddle boarding at a local loch and keeping an eye on the family busy studying for exams Have a wonderful spring break relaxing, walking, running, cycling in our amazing Scottish scenery.

When we came across a baby Deer we stopped to say hello, although briefly,as we were aware it was stunned, and we quickly left to allow its mum to return in safety. There are four species of deer to be found in Scotland: red, roe, fallow and sika. Red and roe deer are native species. When you visit Dollar you are likely to catch sight of wild deer but there is also a deer farm close by between Dollar and Tillicoultry.

❓Do we need a car to visit Dollar? 🙋🏻♀️ Transport links are limited but you’re coming to a unique place of beauty so it’s most certainly worth the effort to get here. 🙋🏻♀️ They’re are buses from Kinross, Alloa and Stirling but sometimes only 4 a day so a car is handy. You can get a train to Alloa and take a short taxi journey to Dollar.

Have you taken a photo of the cherry blossom trees in Dollar? Thank you to last weekends guest Chrissy who kindly sent me these amazing piccies of her trip. There is such a mix of longer hikes and shorter walks in Dollar. It’s a romantic place to spend the weekend. Today we have new guests arriving for a few nights and I loved doing the changeover today with my son Charlie. We popped the fire on and had a wee moment to enjoy the warmth and the big screen in the living room. We would love you to enjoy the scenery here and take in the view of the castle along with having a wee downtime having brunch @cafeatno44 or picking up a coffee at @dollarsdeli we hope to see you soon and do comment if you visited and stayed with us. A big thank you to this weeks guests who always entertained me with kind comments, places they’d been and then their parting comments. I love characters visiting and they seem to love it here too. Come and visit Dollar, situated in central Scotland. It’s under an hour to drive here from both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports. There are a couple of pubs, hills galore and scenery that will blow your mind. Who doesn’t want to wake up to a castle in the morning from the decking. Our apartment sleeps 6 with a double room, twin room and large sofa bed. Oh and the television screen is massive! Don’t believe me then watch the reel again. Come explore in the gateway to the Highlands. Check us out before you head to the North coast 500 route. We are not as far as the Isle of Skye! #dollarairbnb
