On Friday evening, the gang travelled up-country to the London Book Launch of Petroc’s ‘Trelawny’s Cornwall.’ The book starts with his childhood before gently meandering through Cornish history and culture, studying identity, religion, tourism, and - of course - the beautiful landscape. Petroc wrote much of the book whilst staying with the family down at Tremayne.

The launch happened at Ben Elwes Fine Art. The bronze bust in the first photograph (next to Petroc) is a life cast of Beethoven, made in 1812. So impatient was the composer that after 45 minutes of the 1 and a half hour session, he ripped the plaster cast off and threw it to the floor. The artist was able to salvage enough from the fragments that a cast could still be made. The stand it now sits on was made accordingly so that the height Beethoven is presented at reflects his actual height - 5”2.

Location, location, location.

You don’t have to drive far from Tremayne to reach the water. The villages of Helford, St Anthony, and Cadgwith are all within a few miles. For those that want to stay even more local, we have Tremayne Woods and Quay walk right on our doorstep. At the moment, it’s filled with the colours of autumn. In the spring, it will be bluebell galore. By new summer, it will be the perfect place for a swim!

Penlee All Weather relief Lifeboat ‘Volunteer Spirit’ launched on service at 16:10 this afternoon after receiving a tasking request from Falmouth Coastguard.
A 30ft Catamaran sailing towards Penzance was reported to be in difficulties due the South East gale and poor sea conditions.
Penlee Lifeboat launched immediately and proceeded towards Penzance Harbour, thankfully the yacht with one person and a dog on board had made it safely into the wet dock, after a welfare check by the crew the Lifeboat was free to return to station.
