Well that was a hot one.🥵
Very tough route today over to Slieau Lhoist from Creg na Baa and then returned via Abbeylands. Very humid with very little wind and the ground conditions were great other than the last section of the greenway just below the Creg.
Fantastic turnout and great company on such a lovely day. 😎☀️🥾

Beautiful short trail around Earystane and through Colby Glen this morning.
Weather conditions were great and the footpaths were well maintained.
There was a new style out by Scard Farm 👍and the ground conditions weren’t too overgrown.

Today’s summit walk took us up South Barrule via the northern route. Tougher then expected but the troupe all came through.

Well today’s short trail wasn’t. Only 8 miles. 😂😂
When walking along Marine Drive you can’t do half measures you have to do the full loop via Kewaigue and The Nunnery.
Fantastic contrast in scenery from coastal views to beautiful streams and rivers

Fabulous day hiking with these lovely people. 🥾👍 Four summits over 1,000ft ticked off.
Despite the overcast conditions it remained dry and thankfully the mist kept away, so we were able to enjoy the cracking views across the whole of the island.

What a fabulous way to end a glorious weekend of walking. Spent with some of the loveliest people I know. Admittedly the weather played its part but it was the company I enjoy the most. Oh and the cake.🤣🍰🍰🥰🥾🥾

What a spectacular walk we had today. Little overcast to start with, but then the clouds cleared to leave a beautiful day. 😎
So proud of the group as some had never walked the route before and some were apprehensive as to whether they could compete it. However it was never in doubt as everyone finished the route in fine style.
Well done everyone and thanks for a cracking day.👍🥾

Pleased to report that this weekend’s weather forecast is looking very favorable for our walks. 😎🥾👍
On Saturday we will be climbing to the Isle of Man’s second highest summit and North Barrule. We will be starting at the slightly earlier time of 10.30am from The Black Hut. You’ll probably not have better conditions to enjoy the spectacular views on offer across the Island.
Then on Sunday we have leisurely walk out to Cringle Reservoir with it’s beautiful backdrop of South Barrule. This walk starts at 10am from South Barrule car park.
Both walks are £10 per person and payable on the day.

Raad ny Foillan completed ✔️
Fantastic turnout for the final leg from Port Grenaugh into Douglas.
We started our 100 mile route on April 6th in very windy conditions and finished in glorious sunshine in Douglas.
Well it would be rude to not celebrate without a drink or two.🥂🍻🍹

Although we might not have had the best of today’s weather we still had a cracking days walking. So great to see The Bungalow full of so much activities, Cyclists, Fell Runners and Walkers.

Today I was joined by two walkers who were visiting from Melbourne 🇦🇺
There arrived on this mornings cruise ship and felt that the best way to stretch their legs was to join Walking Mann on one of our short trails around Cashtal yn Ard and Ballaglass.

Yesterday we completed the penultimate leg of our Raad ny Foillan journey from Langness to Port Grenaugh. Despite the overcast conditions we managed to avoid any downpours we could see in the distance.
We even had time for cake 🍰 and bubbles 🥂to help celebrate Sarah’s birthday. 🥳

Today’s short trail was along the footpaths of Santon and not the jungles of Borneo as the pictures may suggest.
Great route but when one of the neighbors says good luck on that path, he did have us wondering.
Not to sure if shorts were the best call. 😢🌱🎋🌾

Fabulous turnout for this mornings short trail around Glen Helen. 😀🥾👍
We had to reroute part of the walk due to a mountain bike event taking place. But caring is sharing so we didn’t let this impact the day. Great to see so many people enjoying this beautiful Glen.

Well we didn’t get the stunning views I had promised. But I swear they were out there. 😂
Real pea-souper to start today’s leg of the Raad ny Foillan as we left Cronk ny Arrey Laa.
Things did improve as we made our way down to Fleshwick Bay. Then we had the small matter of the climb to Bradda.🥵🥾
Thankfully the mist made for cooler conditions as we completed the 6 mile route.

Summer Competition Time

As I walk throughout the Island, I've started to notice the numerous milestone markers that are dotted around the Island, and it got me thinking as to why their locations were selected?
Some are in plain sight, some hidden by hedges and some in unusual spots.
So, I've decided to set a fortnightly competition where I will post a photograph of a milestone marker requesting its location. A randomly selected correct answer will then win a Walking Mann prize and all I ask is if you could like and share the page.

This month milestone marker can be found at the entrance to which Close? Answer and winner will be published next weekend

Managed to dodge the showers this morning with our short trail around Andreas. Wonderful flat route with some cracking views of the northern hills.
We even managed to get a look around and inside the parish church. ⛪️ 🥾👍

Fantastic day out with this crazy group of walkers on the Christmas Ale Trail. It was a little blustery along Scarlett but very mild, and we managed to dodge the waves along Shore Road. Snow White and her dwarfs joined us on this trek along with many others. Thanks to Pat and his team at The Albert and Terry and his crew at The Bay for their hospitality. 🥂🍔🍟 Final thanks to everyone who came along and helped make such a memorable day. 🥰🥾

November can provide some stunning walking conditions, as we had a fantastic walk with the group around Santon parish today. The Raad ny Foillan provided some of the best and worst conditions today. Some great work carried out by the Department with the boardwalk sections, but the section down to Santon Gouge on the northern footpath left a little to be desired. To say it was muddy was an understatement. However don’t let the mud get in the way of a great walk. The dogs loved it. 🤣🤣

A few pictures from today’s summit walk to Slieau Managh and on to Creg Bedn. We were so lucky with the weather that even when the rain did arrive it provided us with a stunning moving rainbow out to sea. 🌈😀

Never let a little rain get in the way of a great walk. Despite the damp conditions we had a fabulous time taking in the newly refurbished coastal footpath around Port Mooar and then we continued onto the Dreemskerry Road. Thanks to everyone who braved the conditions and joined me today. 😀👏👏

Stunning views whilst descending to Glen Dhoo

Ideal conditions for today’s short trail around West Baldwin. The sun was shining, cool breeze and the views over Carraghan and Greeba were spectacular. So please everyone enjoyed this new route.😀🥾👍

Fabulous Foxdale. 😎🥾 Slightly cooler conditions for today’s short trail and great to see so many people out and about enjoying the conditions and wildlife.

Very humid conditions for today’s summit walk over Colden and on to Lhargee Ruy. 🥵😎 At least the ground was dry, which was a first for me on this usually boggy route. It was also a great day to introduce Krystyna to the group and show her what the island has to offer. Well done everyone, Cracking stomp. 🥾😎👍

Can’t remember a walk where the weather conditions at the start and finish were so contrasting. We started today’s walk in heavy mist and drizzle and finished in glorious sunshine.🌞 However the Hidden Valley didn’t disappoint as it was stunning at the bottom and the views over Slieau Freoaghane were just superb 😎

A few pictures from yesterdays Walking Mann short trail to Fleshwick. This beautiful bay is so secluded and the coastal views are stunning. Fleshwick is well worth a visit if you get the chance along with the wild flower fields at Rushen Parish Church. 😎🌾💐🪻
