The actual Heart of Santorini, can be found in the beautiful village of Megalochori and is a heart-shaped hole in a rock.

The heart shape is on somewhat of a slant and it has worn away in recent years and so is more of a circle these days, however it is still a stunning location for photos and to take in your surroundings.

Its such a beautiful spot, not as busy as other view points on the island;

Gaze at the calming blue sky

If you are visiting Santorini, you simply must enjoy a Sunset cruise.
It was my favourite way to see what people say, is one of the best sunsets in the world 🌅🤩🧡💛

There are a few options but we chose a catamaran cruise that included drinks, music and a greek BBQ and it was money well spent.
We chose a cruise that allowed up to 55 people on board, partly due to price point but also to meet new people and hoped there would be a great vibe on board; which there was.

We met an incredible group of people from Virginia, and a couple with a 6wk old from Switzerland, so if you like meeting people this is the cruise for you.

Some questions to ask your hotel regarding the 'kids pool'

1. If you are going to a hotel with a water park check any height restrictions
2. Check if the pools are freshwater or salt water if your littles have skin conditions, as freshwater pools tend to have a higher level of chlorine.
3. If you are travelling outside of peak times, check if the pool is heated.
4. Are the kids allowed inflatables in the pools? some hotels do not allow this
5. Do they have sun beds and parasols available near to the kids pool? especially if its hot, as shade will be crucial.

Margarenia Hotel, Perissa

This is a beautiful small hotel complex that will offer you a wonderful warm welcome to Santorini.
Situated in the southeastern edge of the island in Perissa, it has 15 studios available, with a wonderfully simple modern fresh feel.
They can offer double and triple rooms and also maisonettes suitable for upto 4 people and they also have a lovely pool and bar.

We let them know that we would be requiring a late check in and the team were very accommodating, ensuring someone was on hand to welcome us to the property.
We had the a double room for the 2 of us and it was nice and spacious, with a kitchenette, coffee machine and dining table; the staff also made sure we had some bottled water in the fridge ready due to our late arrival.

We enjoyed a lovely breakfast, the usual were on offer; cold meats, bread, yogurt, fruit, cereal, cooked breakfast too as well as pastries.

The hotel is in a great location within walking distance (15-15mins) to the world famous black beaches of Perivolos, Perissa and Vlychada.
Its a short journey from the airport of 12km, fira is 10km, the nearest port is 9km and with a bus stop only a few minutes walk its an ideal location.
