May Day Bank Holiday Weekend is just around the corner – and that means Canoefest 2015 :) As promised, we've got a programme published that's hugely original and really does have something for absolutely everyone - so now we just need you!

Dolben Hall offers a magnificent setting (and rooms, and camping) on the edge of Snowdonia - with easy access to all manner of wonderful canoeing - and to walking, climbing and/ or bumbling around a classic coastline - and we're even (campers included) being offered breakfast and/or evening meals!

If you've not checked the website in the last 24 hours, please get back... as lots of detail has been added. If you've already booked but see you'd overlooked something... get back in touch asap - we'll gladly switch you around so long as the other options haven't booked up.

Oh - and from the Canoefest website you'll also find links to the all-new, fully interactive OCA site - with a tried and tested online membership system and a full online booking system - so please give it all a go!

Matt has been paddling for more years than he remembers, but only came to see the light in 1997 when he was working for Outward Bound in the USA. Returning to the UK, Matt pursued the qualifications that would extend and diversify his paddling experiences, he is currently a BCU Level 4 Open Canoe coach. Matt aims to deliver his canoe programmes and experiences in 'Contextual' environments where participants can learn from direct experiences. He works with Individuals, Families, Groups and the MOD across the UK, Scotland and France.

Matt has coached at the English Symposium over consecutive events (from the beginning..?) and has also coached at the Open Canoe Festival, France for consecutive years.

Wilderness Canoe is Matt's small company that runs trips throughout the UK and further afield when possible. His website : www.wilderness-canoe.co.uk"

Hungarian born Tibor Herbent is an unsung hero of British canoeing, from touring right through to racing. He was a Founder Member of International Long River Canoe Club, and has experience on most of the larger rivers of Europe. He was instrumental in the transformation of the old “Canadian Canoe Association” into what we know today as the Open Canoe Association. In the 1980s, Tibor established canoeing as a discipline within Royal Leamington Spa Canoe Club, both as a competitor and through coaching (to European and World Championship level). He has more recently become a national focus for the coaching of girls and women, with leading GB competitors Lisa Suttle and Samantha Rippington among his protégés.

At the symposium, Tibor will be applying insights from racing technique to the gentle arts of open boating. Expect guidance on effective use of the body and blade from alternative positions in the canoe, and a whole new perspective on the fundamentals of paddling.

Lennart is a paddler from the Netherlands. He is an all-rounder in both canoeing and kayaking, and draws upon all his paddling experience in his coaching and instructing. He is no stranger to marathon, expeditioning, freestyle and OC1. When not in the Netherlands, you have a good chance of finding him on white water as well. During the symposium you can find him at the 'Tools of the Trade' and the 'Efficient forward paddling' workshops.

Matt Mandrell is founder of Adventure 7, a canoeing and bushcraft company based on River Severn in Worcester.
