PT Development PT Business Coaching Our approach is very personal and specific to each trainers needs and wants.

Why do on average 80% of personal trainers go out of business inside 12-months, and the majority of the remaining 20% don't end up earning what they want? We at PT Development think it's because the majority of personal trainers suffer from a lack of business skills, knowledge and expertise, to either stay in business or have the business they want. Our aim is to provide personal business advice,

support and help to personal trainers looking at what THEY have to do to survive in business. With over 17 years of experience in running a personal training business, we have helped and supported 100's of personal trainers just not start and grow a business, but stay in business long-term. Check out www.personaltrainingdevelopment.co.uk to find out how we can help.

An important art that many PTs don't learn is the 'Art of Persuasion'. This doesn't mean conning someone into taking up your offer, but you do need it make them see why you are important to them.

Personal training has come along way since I started in the late 90's. Instead of just training our clients, we are now expected to help when it comes to their nutrition and lifestyle, in order to help them achieve the results they want.

One of the most effective ways to grow your personal training business is to get to know other industry related professionals.

By networking, more people will know you exist and what you offer. What's the best way to network though? What are the rules that need to be followed so you don't ruin potential business relationships?

As a PT business, you should and need to be active on social media. Not in a social way, but in a professional business way.

Running your own PT business teaches you quickly the importance in managing your finances. There is and will be times where you will manage it well and not so well.

If you have a true belief in what you are doing though, you will eventually come out on top. There will be times though when you think you won't make it work, with outgoings totalling more than incoming.

If you truly believe you will succeed then just hold tight and ride out the rough times, the calm waters will arrive.

Here is a good example of that. Some other trainers have gone through something similar and some trainers are yet to go through it, but I am sure quite a few of you will be able to relate.

Remember, you don't have to go through this process alone. Don't be afraid to seek professional help. http://ow.ly/DDX7f

An effective PT is one that becomes a leader for their clients. Someone that people want to follow not someone who forces people follow them.

And just because you want to become a leader doesn't mean you will. You will first need to create a mindset that allows people to be certain you are the person to follow. http://ow.ly/DhH2R

I have noticed over the last couple of years a real shift in the personal training industry. A shift that I have seen other long-time trainers also noticing. The shift being the amount of time it now takes to become a qualified PT.
So the question is "How long does it need or should take to become a qualified PT and what does it now mean to be a PT"? To help, here is an article from Helena Philippou, a PT with over 20 years experience. I am guessing you will either agree or not agree with her dependent on how long you have been a PT. http://ow.ly/Ct4nW
